Chapter 7
underthesun-dreamville
Nick watched in awe as his friends got along with the girl he has been thinking about for the last few weeks. He got to see a brand new person in front of him: the serious and very official Ambassador Reeds disappeared and was replaced with the bubbly, chill, and jokester Kerala. She kept making the whole friend group burst out in uncontrollable laughter with her silly jokes and continuous banter. Sapnap could see how she fit into the friend group without being aware of the most crucial aspects of their lives: streaming, gaming, and being on social media.
"So Kerala, where are you from?" was the first personal question directed towards the young girl, and to no surprise for Nick, it came from Dream. Despite basically being locked up in his house for the last couple of years, Clay was a very open person with new people and he made new friends quite easily, both on the internet and in real life. That was one of his personality traits that Sapnap was jealous of.
"That's quite a long story, but I am originally from Mississauga, Ontario."
"How is it a long story?" asked Punz curiously.
"Well, my parents are diplomats so we moved around quite a lot. Hence why the fucked up accent." said Kerala.
Sapnap and his friends did notice the weird accent the girl had, but they could not figure out where it was from. That was the sole reason why Clay dared to ask her about her heritage.
"Do you speak a lot of languages?" was the follow-up question coming from Foolish.
"You could say that. I speak 5." she answered with her iconic smile plastered on her face.
"Wow, that's so cool!" exclaimed Nick with an utterly excited tone, earning a shy smile from the girl. It must have been the lighting, or so he thought, but Sapnap could see a soft pink tint appear on the brunette's pretty cheeks.
After that, the friend group kept bombarding Kerala with questions which she answered all politely. The streamers had developed quite a liking towards the Canadian girl, most of them exchanged phone numbers with her as well. She felt overwhelmingly accepted into the group after a very short while, which surprised her completely. She was kind of awkward when it came to social interaction, she had her own friend group, but she was never good at making new friends. That's why she never texted Nick back and never told him if she could make it that night or not. She was afraid that she would let him down if she said she was going and chickened out in the last second. She didn't quite understand the rush of self-confidence that she had that night while hopping into her car and driving to Orlando and ringing the doorbell of the modern home of the two boys. And that is exactly what she told Sapnap with her feet in their pool, in the middle of the night, when the boy questioned her lack of response. The others went to bed a few hours ago, leaving the two alone in the living room. Nick suggested they went outside so that they would not wake the others up with their conversation or their laughter.
