I hate crying, especially in front of my enemies.

Celeste took it too far, and she will suffer for that in due time.

At least I'll be with my brother again.

As I am finally wheeled out of that room, I can now see my siblings and I are in a sanitarium. An abandoned one. Weird place to stage this, but I couldn't imagine a good place to torture all powerful vampires.

When I see my brother, his face morphs into concern and anger at the state of me. "What have you done with my sister? If I learned you've harmed her in any way-"

The red head rolls her eyes. "I understand the protective brother schtick, Nik. Let's just move on, shall we?" Who does this bitch think she is calling him by that nickname? As soon as I am placed next to Klaus, she continues. "You will need to catch up on what I've already showed your brother, but you get a front row seat to your sister's betrayal. Though it was intended to hurt your brother, you will find a specific pain of your own, I'm sure of that." She then pours a bowl of liquid down my throat, the second time today.

At first I choke on what tastes like wolfsbane as it enters my veins. That's when I feel the link being placed on my mind. This must be Rebekah's mind, the wolf venom does explain her state earlier.

When I open my eyes, I am transported to a completely new environment. Everything looks gray, from the decor to the outfits. Except for the bedazzling dress my sister is wearing. That's when I notice a familiar large woman with long, curly brunette hair wearing an old suit. It finally hits me.

This is 1919.

The year we lost everything, but how was that Rebekah's fault.

I am once again transported to what looks like the sanitarium, but everything looks much cleaner. And busier.

I see my sister in nurse garments tending to the sick humans who caught the 'influenza virus' as it was called back then. "There, there... unidentified sick man." I see the man puke blood onto my sister, which I can tell she hated. "Oh... that can't be good." I never understood why my sister would volunteer to do something like this. Even if I had time on my hands not dealing with the factions, I would've still said no to this.

Rebekah stops as she notices the woman currently dealing with me and my brother giving a different patient some medicine. "Here, try to take a sip of this." When it is drunk the man quiets down.

My sister smirks as she walks over to the red head. "Mmm... just like magic." And touched her arm, alerting the witch to her being a vampire. "But, then again, what would you expect from a practicing witch?"

The witch remains calm. "It's a simple herbal remedy. It won't stop the inevitable, but it should ease his pain and quiet his lungs. For a while, at least." What a nice girl. What happened?

Rebekah nods. "You are quite good at this Miss... what was your name again?"

The woman lightly smiles. "Genevieve." At least I know her name now.

I see my sister smile. "Lovely... Perhaps you could give me some pointers."

Genevieve smirks. "Certainly, though it is a bit odd. A vampire serving as a nurse."

"Please, darling, I'm an Original vampire. If my city is under attack from this nasty influenza, it is my duty to lend a hand. Besides, if this entire lot dies, who'd be left to eat?" She was so catty back then. I miss that.

The witch laughs. "You're wicked!"

Rebekah moved closer. "You know, I think you and I are going to be fast friends. What do you say you join me at this swell little jazz joint I've discovered on Basin Street tonight? We can toast to the health of New Orleans." That's one thing I miss about the 20s, the jazz clubs were something else.
