Later that day, Akiya awoke to a stern voice coming from the balcony. Sitting up, she looked around at the tattered clothes and ripped fabric, and memories of what happened flooded her mind. A gasp leaves she lips as her hand shoots up to touch the small bite wound on her neck.

"Oh my god," Akiya whispered out, the realization dawning on her. She wanted to scream, to cry in utter heartbreak.

Dabi...poor Dabi...she repeated in her head as she wrapped her arms around herself. She felt like the most worthless piece of shit on the planet. She just mated with another alpha, one that she barely knew.

No, she reminded herself. Akiya had been talking to Hawks for weeks; it was just that she didn't know who he was. Now she was bound to him for life, and any chances of being with Dabi were now out the window.

But was that necessarily a bad thing? The man kidnapped her, teased her, and pushed her into sexual acts. Yet, he was also the one to comfort and protect her and the first person ever to make her feel free and good. Clutching her chest, Akiya felt her heart ripping in two for betraying the man she had grown overly fond of--, even loved.

"How could you leave out that significant detail," Akiya heard a loud voice growl, and she snapped her head up to see a shirtless Keigo standing by the balcony's doors, a phone pressed to his ear.

"We didn't know ourselves. All her tests came back inconclusive; she must have been on a suppressant," Keigo listened to the nurse on the line, his anger slowly deflating.

When Keigo's rut vanished, he felt appalled by his actions. If he had known Akiya was an omega, he would have been more careful with her, yet here he was acting like a savage alpha as if it was a pre-quirk era. Flashbacks of feeling her clench and quiver under him was enough to make Keigo feel hot and bothered.

"Well, what am I supposed to do? I've never had...I don't know much about omegas," he said with embarrassment, his cheeks flushing red, and he palmed his face.

"Just do what is natural. Her heat should last a week, just make her comfortable and fulfill her needs and requests. She'll need lots of food and water and make sure you spend lots of aftercare time. Omegas like that," the nurse informs him. "I'll email you a few pamphlets of information. When her heat is over we can come and evaluate her."

"Does Chief Jin know? He'll want an update on the case," Hawks says solemnly, his voice growing unsure.

"As far as anyone is concerned now, she is your responsibility."

Hawks hang up the phone, reality slamming into him like a punch to the face. He now had a mate, a mate for life to be exact. Although he couldn't have been happier that it was with Akiya, doubt began to fill his mind. Would he be good enough for her? Does she resent him for his actions? Would she hate him?

Keigo would soon get his answer as he looks back towards Akiya to see her awake and sitting. He was by her side in a heartbeat, leaning against the bed to grab her hand. "Hey, how are you feeling?"

The concern and care in his voice made Akiya instantly feel okay. Her body was already responding to its alpha, and despite her hating the idea of this, she couldn't deny her instincts. "I'm sore," she admitted and Keigo frowns.

"Let me get you an ice pack," the alpha mutters before rising to his feet.

Akiya reaches out and grabs his arm, stopping him. "Wait, I don't want to be alone," she whimpers, and his face softens. "You said my parents were dead? How?"
