“It was something to begin with,” he answered shrugging his shoulders in nonchalance.

Lunatic!  Something to begin with?  Hurting and killing people, was just a game to him.

I felt the rage boil in my veins from his words and what they meant, and my wolf pushed at the surface to be let out.

“It must be sad for you, after the death of your puppet?” I asked.

All this time he had been the one controlling Igor.  Everyone had thought Igor to be the bad guy, when the real bad guy was now standing in front of me, grinning at his own master plan.

“Oh no, in fact, I must thank you for killing Igor.  He was beginning to get into my head too much.  I would have done it sooner or later, but you -,” he said, pointing his index finger at me, “You just made my job easier.”  He gave me a wicked smirk to show just how pleased he was that I had interfered.

This guy seriously had no feelings.  The only person he cared about was himself.  He was indeed evil; a demon.

“And here I thought you would be missing your puppet,” I said sarcastically, pouting.

His response was a humorless laugh.  “Tell the woman who created you that I plan on making sure she vanishes completely.”

“How? By a hammer?” I asked and laughed mockingly.  “Ironic isn’t it?  The hammer that you used to destroy the statue was the same one that I used to free all those people that you had kept in darkness.”

“That was their punishment for worshipping her,” he said with a wide smirk.

A malicious growl slipped from my lips.  He wasn’t the least bit ashamed of what he had done to them.  The only thing he cared about was the destruction of the Moon Temple.

“Did you really attack the Waterwave pack because it was something to begin with, or was it to get into the Firelight pack?” I asked.

The threatening growl that came from his chest confirmed my thoughts and I smiled inwardly.  The demon had thought that the white wolf would have been born in the Firelight pack; after all, one had been born there before.  I had suspected it would have been the case because his great grandfather hadn’t been there to witness the blessing the Moon Goddess had given to my great grandfather, Sir Thomas.  He hadn’t known that the white wolf, which was me, would be born as a Wayne.

I felt myself saddened by the knowledge that the Waterwave pack had had to go through all that they had suffered, just because a particular demon had wanted to kill the next white wolf.  Even now, he wanted them to continue to suffer.

“Give a gift like that to me every again and I swear to the Moon Goddess, that you will regret ever being born,” I threatened through gritted teeth.  My wolf was so close to the surface.  She wanted to be let out to kill him, but I kept my control on her.  Even though it was what I wanted to do, I knew it was wrong.

“That was just the beginning Wayne.  You’ll come across those a lot,” he said.  The smug look he displayed showed me just how happy he was to hear my responding growl to his comment.

I would not allow myself to give him the satisfaction of intimidating me.  I closed my eyes and took in deep breaths, telling myself to calm down.  My wolf didn’t want to back down, knowing now who the enemy that needed to be destroyed was.  But I knew I had to hold her back.  We both knew that now was not the right time.  He was baiting me to attack him first, but I controlled my anger, wanting him to attack me first.

After several moments of deep breathing I felt my wolf calm inside me, but she stayed guarded and close.  I knew she would stay that way until she was able to gain the satisfaction of killing him.

“Leave my territory now,” I ordered him through my clenched teeth.  I had begun to block the pack from my mind since I left to meditate, and continued to do so, knowing it was wrong of me to involve them in this.

“I will.  For now,” he answered grinning.

“Make sure to hide all your fans, because I’m going to hunt them down, one after the other, and then I’ll be coming for you,” I warned, using my Alpha tone to imprint the seriousness of each word on him.

Being a rogue, the tone ended up being useless on him.

“Don’t worry.  I’ll make you come to me,” he said and took a step back away from me.  “Because we both know that we will have to meet again,” he continued and shrugged his shoulders.

I knew that that would be the case.  The next time we meet, it will be a fight.  “Until then, I want you out of my territory,” I ordered him emphatically.

“Until then,” he said and raised his chin a little in sternness.  He walked slowly backwards and held my stare.  He dove backwards from the rock when on its edge and swam away.

My wolf only relaxed and let her guard down once he was out of my sight.

Heaving a deep sigh I turned around.  Keith, Cam, Jan and Mike all stood behind me.  Even though they were far away from me, I knew that they would have been able to hear everything that had been spoken between Ryker and me.  The perks of being a shifter.

I looked to Keith’s hand at his side and saw him holding onto the black cloth containing the piece of the old statue.

“Jackson has been traced Alpha,” Keith said.

Jackson was one of the many men that had run away with Glen.  He had been one of the tormentors to all of those that had been in the dungeon.  We had continued to trace the rogues since the day they had escaped for six months now.  Today was the first time we had been successful in our search.

“Everything is planned,” Cam said and his eyes shifted into black, showing his wolf was close to the surface.

I smirked and nodded at them.  We all knew what Jackson’s fate would be once we got to him.

“No mercy,” I said.

“No mercy it is,” they all responded and nodded in agreement.
