"What are you talking about?" Hoseok gulped down his whole drink.
Ready to order another one, Hoseok was about to raise his hands but Jungkook stopped him in his tracks. "Don't you think it's enough?"
Hoseok sighed annoyed. "If you weren't going to let me drink, why did you invite me here?"
"Can I not have a man-to-man conversation with my brother?" Jungkook tapped his long fingers against the table. "I realized that I don't know that much about you which is quite sad."
"I can already tell that you're up to something." Hoseok rolled his eyes. "What do you want from me this time?"
"I already told you," he said confidently. "It has been a while since I came here with my brother and just have a nice talk."
Hoseok didn't speak nor do anything other than to let out a laugh. A laugh of despise. He knew Jungkook too well. Everyone in the palace knew Jungkook.
Jungkook wasn't a man who ever cared about his brothers. He was almost certain that Jungkook didn't even have any feelings. He was a man who would be ready to do anything for power.
Hoseok watched his brother carefully. The way he sat in front of him, slowly bringing his drink to his lips to take a sip. The crowd was cawing in their cruel and cunning voices in the background. For a moment, he pondered whether he made a mistake by coming here with him.
"Since when do you care about your brothers?"
"Well," he replied with an air of condescension, "My royal family will always be my top priority."
Hoseok raised an eyebrow in amusement. "Trust me, I have no doubt in that." A smile creased his lean cheek. "But what exactly do you want from me?"
"Fine," he brushed a strand of hair back from his frowning forehead. "Is there any pain you're trying to numb down by your excessive drinking?"
"If I would say yes, would you be able to help me?"
"Maybe?"
Hoseok narrowed his eyes. "I don't trust you."
"That's very intelligent of you," he gave a gruff laugh. "But I shouldn't be the one you should fear."
Hoseok ran a finger across the bridge of his nose before he leaned closer. "Then who should I fear?" he asked, in a voice devoid of emotion.
"The queen," he said with a shrug. His eyes looked up to meet his. "Or maybe Taehyung?"
"What's going on?" he fixed his eyes on his brother's face, his teeth gritted. His expression hooded, those eyes that just minutes ago were drunk with the freedom, now unreadable.
A cynical smile twisted Jungkook's lips. He was enjoying this too much. "I see you're unaware of the rumors. Let me lighten you up." He raised his glass to his lips, taking his time.
"I'm just going to directly ask you, did you or did you not have an affair with y/n?"
Hoseok's face wrinkled in contempt. Was he being serious? He couldn't believe what he was hearing. Angrily, he smashed his fist on the table, causing the glasses to jump. "What did you just say?" anger and nerves shook his voice.
"You heard me correctly," he breathed deeply. "I asked you wether or not you had an affair with y/n?"
"I don't know what kind of a sick game you're playing but I am not the man you are searching for, mind your own business. She is a married woman now, and whatever affairs she had before Taehyung is in the past. Stop digging into it and respect your brothers marriage." Words spewed like venom from Hoseok's mouth before he angrily stood up from his place.
Jungkook soaked his words in for a second before it finally klicked. It was like a bucket of cold water had been thrown over him.
He knows.
Hoseok knows who the real father of the baby is. Jungkook is certain about that.
He stood up in a hurry, following his brother until he came to a halt in front of him.
"What do you know?" He persisted, not letting him get out of this conversation so easily. "If you are not the man I'm searching for, then who is it?"
For a second something flickered in Hoseok's eyes. But as quickly as it appeared, it was gone. "Stay out of this," Hoseok mumbled through his clenched teeth, making it clear that this is not only a demand but a warning too, before he left the bar.
Standing frozen in his place, Jungkook felt confused.
He was relieved that he was on the right track and finally found a clue. But the conversation with Hoseok gave him more new questions rather than answering his old ones.
Did Hoseok knew who the real father was?
Or was he the one and he only tried to confuse him and bring the attention away from him?
Jungkook didn't know what to believe, but one thing was certain;
Hoseok had the information he needed.
