CHAPTER TWO.

OMNISCIENT.

Sania rubbed her belly nervously as they were getting checks to get into the prison. She hadn't seen her brother in six months and was scared. She missed him like crazy, it almost hurt. A guard showed them to the visitation room, Semaj looked through the window to see Jayden already sitting waiting. He opened the door and stepped inside.

"Long time no see." Jayden chuckled.

"I got something for you bro." he said.

"What? It best be money cos I'm hungry as hell." Jayden sighed dramatically.

Semaj stepped to the side and Sania stood there nervously. Jayden's eyes lit up at the sight of his little sister then soon noticed her little bump. He walked over hugging her not wanting to let go. Semaj decided to give them some time alone. Sania wiped her face as she pulled away.

"How many months, huh?" he placed his hand on her stomach.

"Four." she sniffled wiping her tears.

"Where you been boog?" he asked sitting down.

"I'm sorry."  Was all she could say.

"Come sit here." Jayden pulled a chair out for her and they both sat down.

Semaj sat down, not saying anything, he knew they needed some time to speak. He didn't know the full story himself, but it was clear they had missed one another.

"I can't believe you having a baby." Jayden sighed, he didn't know why to think.

"Me and you both. How have you been?"

"I'm aight, can't complain. Keeping my head down just resting to get out." Jayden said, he knew now wasn't the time to talk about why Sania disappeared. But he desperately wanted to know.

"How come you two together?" Jayden asked.

"We were at the same hotel, I didn't really have a plan for what to do. So I'm staying with him." Sania said, she could see her brother looked confused but he chose not to say anything.

So they decided to keep the conversation light hearted for the rest of the visit. Sania knew what her brother's temper was like. So she knew telling him what had been going on would do nothing at all. His focus needed to be keeping up with his good behaviour and getting out early.

10pm

Semaj walked to Sania's room and lightly knocked the door and walked in once he heard a come in. He opened the door, Sania was sitting up in bed watching tv. She's been quiet since they got home from the prison.
So after they had dinner, he decided to give her a little space.

"You ready to talk yet?" he asked sitting on the bed.

"About what?"

"Watchu really doing here." At first Semaj thought to himself that it would be easier not to care. He didn't know the new Sania too well. But he still cared for her and she clearly needed help.

"You was right the first time." she mumbled as she nervously fiddled with her nails.

"You running?..From what?"

"The baby's father." she said just loud enough for him to hear.

"What happened Nia? No one can help if you don't sat nothing."

"No one can help anyway." she shrugged, she had accepted defeat a long time ago.

"What makes you say that?"

"When I needed help.. the people I told did nothing." she didn't want to talk about it but she was hoping if she did, she would feel better for it.

"You gotta start from the beginning?" he asked, he couldn't explain why he cared so much, he just did.

"Deonte was my boyfriend for two years. One night we were at a friend's birthday, he got really mad because he thought that me and my friend liked each-other. Once we got in the car...he um.. started hitting me. He wasn't a big guy or anything but he was strong. I tried to fight back but it was pointless." Sania took a moment to get a breath in.

She hasn't told the whole story to anyone. Semaj was trying to conceal his anger, he couldn't understand why men felt the need to hit a women. It didn't make any sense, in any kind of capacity.

"By the time he stopped I could barely move then he...he took me home. He begged for my forgiveness and said he didn't mean it. And said he wanted to make it all better. Then he...he um took advantage of me. I woke up being in a hospital he told them I was in a car accident." she said swallowing the lump in her throat.

Semaj was already mad because of what she was saying but because he had an idea in his head. If this was the Deonte he knew, then they all went to school together back in the day.

"This the Deonte I think?" he asked and she slowly nodded.

"At this time I had no one left. Both my dad and Jayden were locked up. I ran away but he found me. I found out I was pregnant a month ago, so I moved states. I thought being closer to my dad and brother would help me. But I don't have it in me to face them."

"So he don't know where you are and if you pregnant?" Semaj asked, she nodded her head, and wiped her stray tears.

"Come here." Semaj let out a breath.

Sania didn't need to be told twice, she practically crumbled in his arms. Semaj rubbed her back, he was quiet and he it let her get everything out. It wasn't long before she had cried herself to sleep.
