He also killed people sometimes.

I sat up, and turned around to straddle his waist. He sat on the edge of his bed, his hands immediately going to my waist. I looked into those eyes, dark green and gentle. He smiled and the dimples popped out, and I couldn't control my own smile.

He was a beautiful man.

"You're so beautiful," he said, tracing his fingers down my neck and he caught a lock of curls between his fingertips.

"You're very beautiful," I said, sliding my hand over his soft black hair. We couldn't keep our hands off of each other. Sandro rolled his eyes at the compliment, but I could tell that he liked it.

I grabbed his cheeks in one hand, forcing him to look at me and I gave him a hard kiss.

"Don't roll your eyes at me," I said, reversing the roles and Sandro chuckled at my attempt. I smiled too because it didn't sound as threatening as I hoped.

"Sorry. It won't happen again," he said, biting his lower lip to hide his smirk.

"Good boy," I said, tapping his cheek. "Don't make me teach you some manners," I murmured, and Sandro laughed as he pulled me closer to him.

I wrapped my legs around his waist and circled my arms around his neck, resting my cheek against his shoulder. His body was comfortable and warm, and I relished in it.

He slid his hand up my back, underneath my t-shirt and he caressed my skin. "I have to ask you question."

"I'm listening," I said, holding him a bit tighter.

There was a pause of silence. "Do you...fuck, I'm not even sure if I want to know the answer."

"You already mentioned it, it would be cruel to not ask," I answered, curious about his question.

"I know, I just..." he said a few words Italian and I frowned. I really needed to start taking lessons.

I waited until he was ready.

"Bellissima, do you actually see a future with me? I know what we have going on right now is the best thing that has ever happened to me, and I love every second of it. But I need to know if you see yourself with me in the long run because if not, tell me so I can figure out how to change your mind," he said, and I grinned so hard my cheeks were starting to hurt.

"But if you do, tell me so I can continue to do whatever makes you happy."

My face softened, and I gave him a kiss on the forehead. "You are the most amazing person. Of course I do, Sandro." My lips met his cheek, kissing the dimple. "I wouldn't have it either way. You got that?"

He smiled, "yes, ma'am."

I nodded. "Good. You-"

"Move to Italy with me," he said, completely catching me off guard and I felt my eyes widen in surprise. My brain froze for a second.

Did he just say what I think he did?

"I'm sorry, huh?" I said.

"Move to Italy with me. This life...I can't leave it, but I can try to make it better for us. Safer. Comfortable. I have way too many people in this city who'd pay to hurt you-take you from me. I thought I could do it, but bellissima...I know this is not the life you want. You want peace, freedom. You love me, but I know you hate the fact that you have to watch your back constantly. I'm just trying to make you happy," he said, taking my hands in his. I hadn't told him that, but Sandro caught on easily. Of course he did-he knew me inside out.

"Sandro..."

"You don't have to pretend, baby. Tell me what you want and I'll give it to you. I promise," he said, giving me a kiss on my hand and he closed his eyes.

He looked so sincere. So determined. I couldn't comprehend packing my life up and moving to a different country.

"Can you explain more, please? How would that even work? Are you allowed to just leave?" I asked, my voice gentle. Sandro opened his eyes, and the look on his face had my heart melting.

He sighed, "I can't just leave. But I can share the title with Carlo, pass off most of the responsibilities to him. I already spoke to him, and he's willing."

"It's that easy?" I asked sceptically.

"There's a lot more to it. There are certain procedures that I need to follow. I would also need to fly in every few months just to check on things. I'll still be their boss-the capo, but just from far away. You wouldn't need to see me shoot anyone in the face anymore," he said and again-my eyebrows shot up. I forgot how blunt he could be, but Sandro had a point.

I thought about a conversation we had.

"What'll happen to you if you leave? Aren't you the boss?" I asked-I was still a little uneducated on the entire mafia business, and Sandro hardly spoke about it.

"Yes, but it's not that simple-technically, the title could only be passed down to someone of blood relation and I have no idea who my family is," he explained, scrubbing the back of his neck. "But if it was up to me, I'd pack us both up and get the fuck out of here,"

I smiled at that-it was impossible but it sounded nice. "Where would you go?"

"Anywhere you'd like. Somewhere cold with pretty sunsets for you. God, what a fucking dream."

I had my mind made up before he could say anything else.

"If it's not Italy, it can be anywhere," he said, and I could see the hope in his eyes. He really wants this.

"Italy is fine, I guess..." I murmured, shrugging my shoulders nonchalantly. Sandro froze, and then his eyebrows pinched together. It took him a second to realise that I had just inadvertently said yes to him.

His eyes lit up, and the most incredible smile formed on his lips. I laughed as he grabbed my cheeks, planting kisses all over my face and not missing a spot.

"Sandro!" I laughed, and he never stopped kissing me. He wrapped his arms around me, falling back onto the bed and I landed on his chest. Finally, he kissed my lips and murmured a, "thank you."

Words couldn't describe how much I loved that man.
