I walked off of the elevator and stepped into the bullpen, my eyes scanning the area and landing on Hank sitting across from an android. I briefly noticed the notorious asshole, Detective Reed, sitting across the way at the little cafe. I walked over to Hank, and I smirked when he looked up and huffed in annoyance when he noticed me.

"Hey, old man," I said, turning my gaze to the handsome android who was staring at me inquisitively, "Who's this?"

The android swiftly stood from his chair and nodded at me, "Hello, my name is Connor. I'm the android sent by CyberLife."

"Connor," I echoed, shaking his hand as he offered it to me respectfully, "I'm Lucy Rogers. What are you doing with this bot-hating hothead?"

"Eh, at least I'm not an ass-kissing droid lover." Hank grumbled under his breath. I ignored him, as usual.

"My mission is to help Lieutenant Anderson with all cases regarding deviants." Connor replied, giving me a respectful smile.

"Yeah, that's her job, too." Hank sighed, shaking his head, "She's new in the Detective's Club, and she's been shadowing me for months."

"You say that as if you don't like having me around, Hank." I chuckled, reaching out and ruffling his hair lightly, "But you've been taking care of me for 20 years. You wouldn't be able to go on without me. You know I'm the light of your life."

Connor's brow furrowed as Hank shoved away my hand and fixed his hair. "20 years?"

I gave the android a kind smile, "Hank was my fathers' best friend. When he died, this old man took over being my caregiver."

"Lucy, you gotta stop being so quick to give everyone your life story." Hank intervened, "People could use any information you give them to hurt you. As an officer, you should know that."

"And you should loosen up and realize that you're going to have to trust somebody sometime or you're not gonna live a life worth anything." I quipped.

"If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times; You're too damn nice for this job. You're gonna be torn apart by the hyenas in this town." Hank stated, grimly.

"Someone on this damn force should be patient and understanding." I replied, tapping his desk twice with my knuckles, then turned my gaze back to Connor. Something about him made me extremely curious, "So, catch me up."

Connor looked at Hank like he was asking if he was allowed to divulge their information to me. Hank nodded once, and Connor returned his eyes to me and began debriefing me on all he had gathered so far.

---

About 2 weeks after I first met Connor, I noticed that he'd begun to act weird. Like he was conflicted, like he was having... bouts of human emotions. I was honestly thrilled. I was a firm believer in androids being capable of feeling and acting just like humans. I empathized with the deviants, but that didn't mean that I approved of their murders. From what I'd experienced, though, they only seemed to hurt humans in self-defense, once they'd endured too much and had their hands forced.

I quickly grew attached to Connor. The way he viewed things, the way he said things, his mannerisms all fascinated me. So once they began to change, I noticed.

When we investigated the Eden Club and were attacked by the two female androids, Connor didn't shoot them even though he could have. It would have neutralized the threat for the good of the investigation, but he didn't do it. I also noticed the slow change in Hank as he gradually became fond of Connor himself. It warmed my heart to see him beginning to trust in an android, after all of the hate he harbored within him forever.
