AUTHOR'S POV

Nirvaan heard a knock on his door in the morning.

He tiredly opened his eyes which were glued due to dried tears.

He was still in the same position as the last night, leaning against the wall on the floor.

He lazily stood up with pain in his limbs because of sleeping in the wrong position for the whole night.

He opened the door and came face to face with the girl who looked like the morning sunshine. She was freshly bathed he assumed because of the water droplets dripping down her hair.

"Good morning" she chirped cheerfully.

Her face didn't contain any remorse, regret, or pain. She looked like the fun-loving Vaidehi, he fell for.

While on the other hand, his face looked bathed in tears.

"See I bought breakfast" she chirped and showed him the packet of piping hot vada paos in her hand.

"Go and take a bath. You stink" she pushed him towards the bathroom making faces.

He was confused.

How can she behave all normal after last night?

A pang of helplessness rushed through his veins because he was not able to know what was going on inside her mind.

He took a bath and came out drying his hair with a towel.

She was arranging the breakfast on the plates and smiled at him when he came out.

"I bought extra for you. You will not get these tasty vada paos in Delhi" she chuckled pulling him towards the dining table.

Delhi.

It reminded him that he is going away today.

"Eat fast. We have to do packing also" she said stuffing her mouth with the vada pao.

She choked on her food and started coughing.

"Can't you eat slowly" he scolded her patting her back worriedly.

"Sorry" she sheepishly smiled after she was sober.

After having breakfast, she was running around the house, packing his things more worriedly than him.

"Have you packed your books from the upper shelf?"

"Have you packed your clothes which were drying outside?"

"Have you packed those boxes from the kitchen cabinet?"

"Have you packed all your shoes?"

She was asking all these questions panicking.

Nirvaan stood up from the chair he was sitting on and pulled her by her arms, which made her face him.

"Why are you doing this?" he asked in a painful voice, annoyed that how eager she was to send him off.

She gave him a smile. A painful one.

"You are my first best friend. I don't want to send you off in a sour mood. I don't want to ruin what all we had in these 2 months, our little moments, our endless talks, our bickering" she smiled at him caressing his cheek.

"Now chop chop otherwise you will get late" she shouted moving her face to the other side and wiping the tear which was ready to fall out.

He left her hand and went inside his room.

Inside the bathroom, he splashed water furiously on his face and at last broke down sitting against the bathroom door.

He stood up, washed his face, and dried it with a towel.

He moved out of the bathroom and found her sitting in the balcony, looking at the sky.

When she felt his presence, she turned and gave him a smile.

"When is your flight?" she asked.

"In 3 hrs" he replied moving in the balcony.

She nodded and again stared at the sky.

He sat beside her and joined her in looking at the endless sky.

There was silence. The comfortable one.

The silence before the farewell.

The silence you know is enough to sew memories for years...

"You won't come to the airport?" he asked standing beside the cab which was parked in their building compound.

"No, I have some work" she replied with a small smile.

"No, I can't because then I will break down"

He nodded with a small smile.

He moved forward and hugged her lightly.

And there she lost it.

She hugged him tightly and broke down.

His eyes also gave up.

"Take care" he said with a smile moving away the hair from her face which was sticking due to the tears.

"You too" she smiled back and handed him something.

A polaroid picture. They took it at the marine drive once.

A smile crept on his face remembering that day and he caressed it lovingly.

He took out his wallet and placed it inside it.

"Bye" she whispered with a smile.

"Bye" he smiled back sitting inside the cab.

And...

She was again at her favorite place. Marine drive.

Lonely like before.

But this time she had memories to look forward to.

She had those waves which witnessed their moments.

She had a carefree smile that she didn't know existed.

She just sat on the marine drive, listening to the waves.

No, she was not regretting the time they spent together, in fact, she was grateful for all those moments.

Her mind was playing all those memories.

But in the case of LOVE, one can't do anything.

LOVE has its own way and is not easy to acquire.

Modern love stories are full of doubts, insecurities, what-ifs, trust issues, responsibilities, etc...

And in order to overcome all these, some stories lose their battle even before they start.

But as it is said,

Some stories are beautiful when they are incomplete❤.

Because the journey is what matters, not the result❤.

Kisi roz baarish jo aaye

Samajh lena boondon mein main hoon

Subah dhoop tumko sataaye

Samajh lena kirno mein main hoon...
