Chapter 40

Sam, Jared and Paul fit right into Ojo de Agua, they got along really good with everyone in the prowl, and they learned a lot about working as a team and exploiting their abilities. Jared had the best eyesight, so he would always run in the front with Sam, Sam was the biggest, and his size gave him strength and speed, Paul worked hard to improve his speed, he had the advantage of aggressiveness, if that makes any sense. Paul was always the first to react to danger, and he was the best fighter.

They spent Christmas with Renata's family in Ojo de Agua, and Karina surprised them with a week in Cancún until New Year's Day, they would stay at their apartment in the city, enjoy the pool and the beach, they would go to Cozumel, Bacalar, and in New Year's Eve, they would go to Chichen Itzá with Renata's family.

"Renata, can we go to the beach?" Jared whined, he was laying in the couch. Paul was in the balcony with Sam, looking towards the sea.

"Yeah, let's go, I've never seen such blue in the ocean, or such white sand" Sam intervened.

"Okay, sure, we can go, let me just put my swim suit" Renata told them and went to her room. In her room, she checked her phone and saw she had seven missed calls from Jacob. Renata immediately dialed his number and waited impatiently for him to pick up, she was scared he would have shifted with her and the boys in Mexico, "Hey!" She said when she heard him pick up.

"Why didn't you answer?" Jacob asked immediately.

"Well, I don't have my phone attached to me, Jake" Renata joked and laughed, "I'm sorry, is everything okay?"

"I was just wondering how was it going and when are you coming back" Jacob asked.

"Everything is going great, Jake, thanks for asking. It has been great spending time with my mom, I swear it's like I'm attached to her now or something, I really missed her" Renata said fondly, "as of when we're coming back... we'll probably arrive January 1st at night, our flight leaves on New Year's Day"

"Renata! Come on, let's go!" Paul called from outside her room.

"Was that Paul?" Jacob asked, a hint of anger in his voice.

"Yes, we're going to the beach, but don't worry, he can wait. Tell me, how have you been?" Renata told Jake, she put her phone in speaker and started putting sunscreen before putting on her bikini.

"I've been missing you" Jacob said, making Renata giggle, "I really feel incomplete without you"

"That's so sweet Jake" Renata laughed.

"I love you, Renata" Jacob said softly.

"I love you too, I'll see you in three days" Renata said before hanging up.

She put on a pair of jean shorts and a simple t-shirt, along with her Adidas shoes, a pair of sunglasses and a bag with a towel, sunscreen and her wallet. Renata got out of her room to find the guys waiting for her in their swim trunks, Jared waved his hand at her with it stuck in a jar of cookies. She sighed and helped him out before tilting the jar to get a cookie out, and gave it to him. They left the apartment and once they were on the ground floor, they walked towards the beach, which was only a couple hundred meters away. Once in the beach, Renata asked for a palapa, they accommodated them into one with four pool chairs.

"This is beautiful" Jared mentioned, looking at the sea, he then looked at Renata, who was sitting down now, "are you not going to take off that shirt? You are going to get an uneven tan" 

"No, I'm okay" Renata said, looking down at her body. She had felt confident when she first put her bikini on, but now she was not so sure, not next to the boys, who all had  defined muscles.
