"Tea would be lovely, Make some for yourself as well; It would be nice to watch the rain and continue to talk with one another wouldn't it?" Velvet mentioned, Answering the other boy's question while giving him another reason to stay with him and talk about the worries they possibly both shared. "Alright, I'll be back as soon as I can with the tea. Do get situated," he replied, Bowing once more. He walked out of the room a few moments later leaving Velvet there alone.
Velvet shook his head before walking over to the window, He sat on the window sill as it was actually big enough for one to sit on without any discomfort. He sat in the window, pressing his body onto the window lightly. His hands were neatly folded in his lap as he watched the rain trickle down the glass. He leaned his head on the glass taking a moment to appreciate the silence that filled the room. Closing his eyes for a few moments as he hummed to himself. A small tune that was well known in the Hickory household. Not many outside of it knew the tune, as it was more of a family tune, passed down by generation. It was never let out to the public, and if it were to be sure they'd hand a new tune by the next generation.
The tune was more like a secret kept from others and stashed away for those that only needed it in a desperate time. It wasn't that He needed it, It just felt right to hum the melody with the soft pitter-patter of the rain as it hit the window with a harmonized beat. Truth be told this is what happened every time It rained. He often found himself in another world when the rain came around, It reminded him of other memories that didn't seem to be all too special to others. Like the day he had met one of the other housekeepers, Holly was her name. He had found her on his way back home when he had taken a small walk that had been disturbed by the rain. She was new to the town back then, so he took her in and she got a job there at the estate, Easily she became as liked as Laika, and Roy.
Thinking of Holly only reminded him of Roy, before he had passed away due to an illness that couldn't be cured in time for his body to act upon the matter. He was more of a Brother to Laika at the time. He remembered the many nights that Laika shed tears with Holly and even himself when he had passed on so suddenly. Though that was four years ago back when they were still quite young being only fourteen, And most likely if not for him and his family they'd still be on the streets Poor, cold, and hungry. He dares not to think any further when it came to what their lives would be like if they hadn't been taken in by the estate themselves, or given that hospitality that the Hickory family had given them.
When Laika returned, The families cat's trailed in after him. Almost like it was a small parade of felines, Laika at the lead. "Here's your tea M'lord." Laika handed Velvet a small plate with a cup of tea placed in the center. It was easier to hold that way. Laika had set his tea down on the desk, He sat down on the floor slightly below Velvet. "You can sit you here with me, There's space." Velvet mentioned repositioning himself. He sat on one side of the window, while Laika sat on the other. The cats that had followed them into the room had pounced up into the window as well, Finding their own comfort in Laika's lap. He was always more of a cat person when it came to it. The cats favored him, Mainly due to the fact that his room was always open to the cats, they often lay on his bed or on his chair.
"The cats have taken a fancy to you haven't they?" Velvet chuckled, Turning his body slightly as he placed his tea down on the desk that was pretty much on his side of the window just a few inches away from the window itself. He folded his hand neatly in his lap.
"Yeah, Seem's Whiskers, Theo, and Thomas have grown on me" Laika chuckled. Whiskers was a pure white She was Typical for a Khao manee. She was beautiful despite her deafness she was still loved by the household, She had pretty sleek fur. It was always quite smooth and cold to the touch hence her nickname 'Snow'. Theo was a Tuxedo cat that Laika had personally bought a while back with his own money, He was quite the fancy cat often being found near Thomas, as they never seemed to stray far from each other. By far Theo was Laika's cat and was the most favored out of the bunch despite all of them getting an equal amount of love. Finally, Thomas was a Red point siamese cat, Personally, Laika and many others thought that Thomas was more like Velvet, Perhaps even his own cat. Even when Velvet denied that he was the cat's human.
Whiskers, Climbed out of Laika's lap carefully padding over to Velvet before laying down right in front of him, as if it were an invention to pet her. The other two stayed curled up on Laika's Lap, Sleeping. You could hear the three cats purring as the rain hit the window, It was calming for both of them. "You should try and get Whiskers to lay in your lap, Cats can be quite the comforting creature for when you're stressed, just like how you were an hour or two ago," Laika mentioned. He watched as Velvet Reached his hand out and scratched the cat behind the ears and under her chin. She purred loudly, Standing up and padding forwards. Her front paws were now on top of Velvet's legs. He head held high, and her eyes closed.
To be fair, Laika enjoyed the moment; It was cute. He had seen Velvet open up many times but, this time with the comfort of a cat, and the rain in the background that seemed to muffle anything else it was more entertaining and comforting to see that his friend was content and no longer seemed to worry about the words that had been said to him that day.
He smiled, leaning his head back against the wall of the window sill, Closing his eyes he few himself more tired than before. Laika sat there for a few moments fighting sleep. The time they spent together that day was quite long. When Velvet woke up that day it was already about Ten in the morning, And the conversation with his parents too was about an hour, And the writing took three. Therefore it was already around four or five, Due to their tea, and the time they spent on the window sill.
An early rest wouldn't hurt him, would it? He didn't think twice. He simply leaned against the window and waited for sleep to take him. His hands-on the cats that lay on his lap, his head slightly tilted back as he rested there for a few minutes. He could hear Velvet speak to the cat in front of him. As he was using more of a Baby tone. The type of tone adults used when speaking to a child of a fairly young age. He smiled before sleep finally swallowed him hole.
