On Berk they have always made things one way, the Viking way but with the arrival of the dragons the Viking way is now the hard way and some people like Stoick still refuse to change
(Berk's docks)
Hiccup, Blake and their dragons arrived at Berk's docks where they found Stoick and Gobber with other Vikings pulling a damaged ship
"What happened?" Hiccup asked getting of Toothless "It's that rogue dragon again, that's the second boat this week he's destroyed" Gobber explained
"How much of the catch was lost?" Blake asked "The whole catch" Stoick said "We could've saved it if we had gotten there sooner"
"We know how you could've gotten there sooner" Hiccup said "Here we go again" Stoick sighed
"If you flown there in a dragon, you could've been there in five minutes instead of two hours" Hiccup said
"And that could also be a way to get rid of that rogue dragon" Blake said walking next to Hiccup
"As chief of Berk I do the things the Viking way, not the Dragon way" Stoick said refusing
"Well, the Viking way is costing us fish and almost as many boats" Hiccup said "The boys got a point there" Gobber said
"If you were on a dragon, you could protect Berk even from Alvin" Gobber said trying to convince Stocik
"Tell me about it" Blake muttered "If the few things that I can remember from him are true, he'll come back"
"Now imagine if you were the one commanding them" Gobber said "I'm listening" Stoick said interested
"I can see it now! A proud chief ruling his domain aboard a fire-breathing reptile" Gobber said proudly
Blake shuddered when the image of Alvin being the one riding the dragons instead of Stoick appeared in his mind, when he opened the eyes, he realized than Hiccup, Stoick and Gobber were looking it him
"Sorry, it's just that the wrong image appeared in my mind and it gave me the creeps" Blake apologized laughing nervously
"You know what Gobber?" Stoick asked changing the theme "I need to learn how to fly, when do we start the lessons?" Stoick said looking at Hiccup and Blake
"Well, I guess the sooner the better, right Hiccup?" Blake said and Hiccup only nodded in disbelief
(Edge of a cliff)
Later that day Hiccup, Stoick and Blake with Toothless and Thunder where on a cliff near the academy ready to start Stoick's flying lessons
"Alright, I made a new stirrup, so you'll be able to control Toothless" Hiccup explained "You hear that? It's me that's going to control you" Stoick said looking at Toothless
"Blake, how do you control Thunder?" Stoick asked with interest
"I don't control him, I trust him, riding a dragon is all about trust" Blake explained petting Thunder
"Good thing they trust me, I'm their chief" Stoick said "Can I get on him now?"
Hiccup only nodded before he and his dad get on Toothless back "I'll be right behind you in case something happens" Blake said getting on Thunder's back
"We'll start out nice and slowly, just gave him a little nudge if you want him to-" Hiccup never finished his sentence because Stoick gave a kick instead of a nudge making Toothless fly
"I said nudge!" Hiccup yelled "That was my nudge!" Stoick yelled back
It all happened so fast and Blake was still processing it all "Okay Thunder, let's make sure that they don't get themselves killed" Blake said before Thunder began to fly
