Summary: Anne Frank was a 13-year-old Jewish girl during the Second World War and the holocaust. The time when Jews were being tortured in concentration camps by Nazi Germany. Having just celebrated her 13th birthday, she got a diary as a gift and came a call-up of a so-called Labor Camp for her elder sister Margot Frank. Her parents were suspicious of this and went into hiding to avoid persecution. So, Anne Frank wrote in her diary about her experiences as a Jew hiding from Nazi Germany.
Star Rating:
Why 4 stars?
Anne Frank was writing her journal in her own way. I have no right to give it a rating but I gave it 4 Stars. This is because there was much-missing information about her life in hiding. Which I do think was a mistake while translating, but as a journal writer, I do not think those parts should be missing from the original text. Moreover, she had character flaws, but I think it is suitable for a 13-year-old girl who is just discovering her life during a difficult period for Jewish people like her.
Conclusion: I highly recommend this book to people from ages 9-15 because it explores teenage years and is a significant part of History. Her journal explains the Holocaust in very simple words which can be understood by everyone. So if you are hesitating to buy this book, go ahead and buy it, because this will surely change the way you see World War 2.
