I'm waken up the next morning by her mother shaking me awake, with Riley just stairing at me. As if she was waiting for me to wake up. Her arms still around me, our bodies still pressed together. "Uhh.. Riles.." I say tiredly. She snaps back to reality, her face turning a slight shade of red, removing her arms from my body. I sit up on her bed, stretching, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. "Get dressed you two. You have to go to school." Her mom told us as she left the room. I turn my attention to Riley, who, was already getting dressed, but I ignored that fact, still stairing at her. "Aren't you going to get dressed?" She asked, confused and half naked. I avert my sight onto the floor, face growing hot, remebering last night. "Uhh.. I only have the clothes I wore yesterday.." I explained. "You can look in my closet and wear anything you want." I look back at her, she was smiling. "Really?" I asked gratfully. "Yeah." I smile, going to her closet, looking for something I want to wear. There are mostly just frilly pink dresses, some jeans and shorts and stuff. Some tshirts. I look through her shirts, not wanting to wear a dress. I finally decide on a black tshirt with some glittery pink writing on it, not caring what it says too much, and some jeans that are kinda' too small for me, but I can squeeze into them. I go back out, to see she's already dressed. Since I'm not dressed, I slowly back up into the closet, but Riley grabs my hand, pulling me into her room. "C'mon, Maya. Don't be scared.. You're not hideous, or discusting.. You're beautiful." She told me, as a smile creeps upon my face. "Thank you.." Is all I managed to say as I changed infront of Riley, with her watching me, as if her life depended on it. I finish getting dressed, we leave her room, going to sit at the table. We sit on the bench next to eacher as her mom places a plate of eggs infront of each of us. "Eat up," she smiles, "don't want you two to be hungry during school." Riley and I eat our breakfast, and give our plates back to her mom. "Uhmm.." I start, getting Riley and her mom's attention. "Mrs. Riley's mom," "I told you, call me Topanga." She says warmly. "Okay. Well, To-Topa-.." I take a deep breath. "Topaga?" She laughs a little. "Just call me mom." I smile as she puts her hand out for one of us to grab. Riley grabs her mom's hand, as I grab Riley's. "Thank you," I start, getting their attention once again. "For letting me stay here last night so I wouldn't have to be alone." Topanga smiles. "It was no problem! I wouldn't want you to be alone!" Riley then wraps her arm around me in a side hug, I lay my head on her shoulder while she's hugging me. "Maya, you don't have to be alone anymore. If you ever feel alone, you can always come over anytime. Or if you want me to go over to your house, I'll be there." She smiles warmly at me, as I smile back. She grabs my hand, her mom leads us to her car. Riley and I sit in the back seat together. On the way to school, I'm looking out to window, seeing what passes by. Cars, buildings, trees, and whatever else I see on the way. As I'm looking out the window, I put my hand in the middle of Riley and I. Suddenly, I feel her hand on mine. I turn to look at her, to see she's already looking at me, smiling with a sparkle in her eyes. I smile back warmly. We arrive at school, waving goodbye to Riley's mom. We go to the class room, but to my dissapointment, someone's sitting in my seat. Riley and I walk over to them, hand in hand. "Uhmm.. Excuse me, but that's her seat." Riley told him. He crosses his arms. "But you're cute, and I wanna sit by you." He told Riley, making me a little mad. "But I wanna' sit with Maya." She told him, calming me down, making me smile as I feel my face heat up. He doesn't say anything else and just keeps stitting in my seat. "Mrs. Morris!" Riley called. "He won't get out of Maya's seat!" She told her. "Jerami, your seat is over there. Get out of Maya's seat." "Hmph!" He grunts as he gets out of my seat, moving somewhere else. I smile, sitting next to Riley. I'm looking at my name tag, when I notice that it says "Maya Matthews" I feel my face heat up once again, this time, a more intense heat, thinking about possibly being with Riley one day. But I shake the thought from my head. I can't like her, she's a girl.. I'm a girl.. That'd be wrong.. I then look at Riley's name tag, reading, "Riley Hart" I point it out to Riley, as I notice a slight blush on her face. She raises her hand to tell the teacher, but she's doesn't notice. The teacher starts taking roll, calling out names of people I don't know. Then she gets to Riley's name. She calls out, "Riley Hart." Riley raises her hand, speaking up, she says, "Mrs. Morris! My last name is Matthews.. Maya's last name is Hart.." The teacher's eyes widen. "Oh my goodness. I'm sorry! I got you two mixed up. I'll fix it immediately." She told us, kind of making me upset, but I didn't really care too much about it. We go about our school day as normal, learning the alphabet or whatever. The school day is soon over, making me upset. I sigh sadly, looking down. Suddenly, I feel someone hug me from behind, turning my head, I see it's Riley. "What's wrong sweetie?" She whispered gently in my ear, making me blush slightly. I grab her hands, as she's still hugging me from behind. "I'm going to have to be alone.." I sigh sadly. "Maya, you can come back over today.." She replied. Making me smile slightly, but it soon fades. "Yeah, but I'll have to go back home tonight.. There's no way my mom would let me stay somewhere two nights in a row on school nights." Just then, Riley pulls away, gasping excitedly as a smile creeps upon her face. "Maya!" She says all giddy. "I can stay at your house!!!!" My eyes widen when I hear those words come out of her mouth. "R-Riley-! I don't think-" she puts her fingure on my mouth to stop me, feeling my face once again heat up.. Gosh I'm blushing way too much, but I can't help it around her.. I just feel.. Different around her. She's just amazing. "Maya, if you don't want to be alone, you don't have to!" I look down sadly. "Riley, we can't spend every minute with eachother for the rest of our lives." After saying that, I see her happiness deflate. "But.." She says so sadly, breaking my heart. "I don't want you to be alone." She finally said as she pulls away from the hug. "Riley, you have to understand that I'll have to be alone sometimes.. And we both just have to deal with it. Trust me, if we could be together all the time, I'd totally take you up on that offer, but we can't.." The sadness on her face seems to just dissapear when she gets an idea. "We can't, but that doesn't mean we can't try!!!!" She says excitedly. I face palm just as the bell rings, making Riley grab my hand, pulling me to her mom's car. "Mommy!!!!" She practicly yells at her mom, "yes, Riley?" Her mom replied. "Can I stay the night with Maya tonight! Please! Please! Please!!!!" Her mom looks at me, "did you ask your mom?" She questioned. "Well.." I'm highly considering lying right now to get out of Riley being so worried about me, but even if I did, she'd say no anyway. "No.." I sigh out. "Well, I can call and ask-" I interrupt her. "I'll ask.." Topanga hands me her phone, dialing my mom's number, I put it up to my ear. Ring. Ring. Ri- "hello?" My mom answers. "Hi, mom." "Oh, hey Maya, look, I can't pick you up today, you can get a ride home from the people you were with yesterday." After hearing that, I turn around, looking down sadly. "Oh. Okay.." I tried to say in my normal voice, but Riley knew I was sad, so she wrapped her arms around me from behind, pressing her body against mine, causing my face to heat up. "Oh, but mom, I wanted to ask you something." "Sure, what is it?" She asked. "Well.. I was wondering if Riley could stay the night tonight?" By the end of that sentence, my voice was high, I closed my eyes tightly waiting to hear the answer I knew would come- "yeah. She can. It'd be good for her to come over. And I'd get to meet her." Thinking I heard a no, "aww! But mo-" my eyes widen when I realize she said yes. "Wait- you said yes?" I asked confused and shocked. "Yeah. It'd be good! Okay, I have to go now. Bye." "B-bye.. L-" she hung up before I could tell her I love her. I sigh. Riley takes her arms from around me, looking at me hopefully. As if she didn't hear me say my mom said yes. "Soooo?!!" I smile slightly. "You can." I said not-so-enthusiasticly, causing her to hug me tightly. As we're hugging, my smile fades. I love her but.. I shouldn't be doing this.... After she pulls away, she turns to her mom. "I can!!" She squeeled to her mom. "Okay, do you two need a ride?" Their attention was now focused on me. "Uhh.." I look at Riley. I want to say no, but her face.. Her.. I can't make her walk. She's too.. Perfect.. I don't want anything to happen to her.. "Y-yeah.. We need a ride." I finally told her mom. "Well hop in!" She said with a smile. Riley and I get in the back seat with eachother. "Maya, do you mind if I go home so Riley can get some clothes?" Her mom asked. "Uhmm, actually, she could wear some of my clothes.." I spoke up. "Well then lets go to your house!" Riley said excitedly. "Maya, what's your adress?" I tell her, we go on our way to my house. "We're heeeerree~" I cooed to Riley, making her smile. We get out of the car. "Bye mom!" Riley waved goodbye. "Bye! Have fun!" I waved goodbye, as I pulled out my key and unlocked the door. "Mom!" I called out. No reply. Not shocking me, she's not here. "Where's your mom?" Riley asked, concerned. "Not here.." I sigh. Riley smiles wide. "I wanna' see your room!" She says excitedly, grabbing my hand. "Alright.." I sigh out, rolling my eyes, as I smile slightly. I bring her to my room. Her eyes light up as she gasps. "Maya.. Your room is.." I sigh as I look down. "I kno-" "AMAZING!" She yelled to me, catching me off guard. "Wut." Is all I could choak out. "I love your room!" She says excitedly. "Uhh, thanks, Riles.." "You don't sound too happy about that.." She pouts. "Riley, I thought you wouldn't like it.. It's a huge mess and-" Riley interrupts me by hugging me from behind, laying her head on my shoulder. "It's perfect. Just like you.." She whispered in my ear, making my whole face a deep red from blush. "Riley.." I whisper. Oh the things she does to me.. "Yes, Maya?" She replies. I pull away from her hug. "What's wrong?" She looks dissapointed. I look down, not able to look at her sad face. She lays her hand on my shoulder, I fight the urge to look up at her. I turn around. I can't take this.. This is all too much.. "Why-" is all I choak out, making Riley confused. "Why.. What?" She asked confused, but also sympathetically. "Why did you befriend me? Why do you care about me?.. No one's ever cared about me this much before.." She puts her han on my shoulder, making me turn around, as I'm still looking down. She puts her hand under my chin, pulling my face up to look at her. I look into her eyes. "Maya, do you not want me to care about you?" She asked sympathetically, looking into my eyes, her eyes sparkling. "I mean.. I do.." I sigh. "It's just- so new to me.. I just don't understand why you do care about me so much.. We're so different and-" she kisses my cheeck, stopping me in my tracks. "I care about you Maya, I really do.." I feel my face heat up slightly. "Riley-.." I sigh out. I see her slowly inch closer to me. "Maya, you're beautiful, amazing. I know there's more to you than you let on." I look down slightly. "Riley.. You- are the best friend I've ever had. I love you." I smile at her warmly. She hugs me tightly. "I love you too!" She says happily. After she pulls away, I ask, "are you hungry?" She shrugs. "Not really, no. "Then, what do you wanna' do?.." I asked. She goes into a thinking stance that just looks absolutly adorable. Man, I love this girl so much.. But she probably doesn't feel the same way.. But getting to spend this time with her is awesome. "OH!" She yells excitedly. "Let's play tag!" I look down and sigh. "Seriously.." I sigh out. She looks at me with puppy dog eyes. "Maya~.." She cooed sadly. I roll my eyes, crossing my arms. "How about.." I smirk at her, "hide and seek. Winner gets to do whatever they want. Loser has to be winner's servent for an hour." Her eyes widen, but she soon smiles deviously. "Oh I'm going to enjoy having a servent. Especially one-.." She stops herself in her tracks, her face red from blush. I ignore the last part. Not really caring what was going to be said. "123," Riley yelled, trying to catch me off guard, "NOT IT!!!!" We yelled in unicent. We both start laughing. "Okay, pick a color." Riley told me, making me confused. I raise an eyebrow. "What for?" I questioned. "Just do it." She demanded, but sounded polite. I don't understand how she can be demanding, but still sound so sweet.. I love her so much. "Okay, blue." "Pink." She replies, sighing. "Dang. Tie. Pick another one." I think for a second. "Green." "Purple." She sighs, continuing, "I'm it." She sighed out. I smile deviously. "20." I say, leaving my room as I start hearing Riley count. I quickly look around for somewhere to hide. I go down the hall, into the bathroom, looking around quickly. I get in the bathtub, pulling the curtain infront of me so she won't see. "READY OR NOT HERE I COME!!!!" She yells, running out of my room. I giggle slightly, covering my mouth to muffle them. I hear Riley in the living room, I take the opportunity to quickly, and quietly run into my room to get back to base. I take a deep breath, about to run out of the bathroom as fast as I can. I do, I take that chance, running out of the bathroom, Riley right outside of it, about to go in. I avoiding her swiftly, bolting to my room like an olympic runner. I'm almost caught by Riley, but I take a leap of faith onto my bed, hitting my head on the wall, but I let it go, smiling wide, knowing that I got away from Riley at the last possible second. Riley immediately runs to my side after I hit my head. "Oh my goodness! Maya! Are you okay!?!?" She asked, shocked. I rub my head. "Y-yeah.. I'm fine." I sighed out. She sits down next to me, as she starts stroaking my hair gently, "let's just say you won. That was a valiant effort you put into it, Maya.. And that leap of faith was fantastic." I smile slightly. "I know." Riley starts poling random parts of my head. "Does this hurt?" She asks everytime she pokes a different spot. "Why are you poking my head?" I was confused. "To find where your head hurts. I want to help you." I smile warmly. I break away from the trance, showing Riley where it hurts. She starts rubbing it gently. "Does that hurt?" She almost whispered to me. I smile warmly. "Not at all." "Okay," she gets up from my bed and continues, "I'm going to get you an ice pack. Wait here." She leaves my room. I smile. "I love her so much.. Why does she have to be so perfect and caring.. It's hard for me not to like her.." I spoke to myself. Not too long later, Riley comes back in with a bag of ice. She comes and sits next to me, gently placing the ice on my head where I slammed into the wall. She smiles warmly at me as I smile back. "Thank you, Riles." "I don't want anything to happen. Master, what is wanted of me?" She bowed jokingly. I smile gently. "I wouldn't want anything more than to spend time with you." She hugs me gently, kissing my cheek. "I love you." She whispered in my ear, causing my face to heat up. She wraps her arms around me, not letting me go. I lay my head on her shoulder, cherishing this embrace. She pulls away, "Maya, there must be something you want from me." She then smiles knowingly. I turn away from her. I can't do this. This to too much. She's too much. What am I supposed to do? What am I supposed to say? Oh, Riley, I love you, please kiss me. I can't.. By the time I snap back to reality, my face is red, Riley's waving her hand in my face, asking, "are you alright, Maya?" I just look at her, shocked. "I-I can't." Is all I choaked out as I ran out of my room, running into the bathroom, closing and locking the door. "Maya!" Riley yelled after me. I run my back on the door, slowly falling to the ground. "I can't do this anymore.." I whispered quietly to myself as tears form in my eyes. Then I hear a light knocking, almost not able to hear it. "Maya.. Please open up.." I heard Riley's calm voice practicly a whisper to me through the door. "L-leave me alone." I choaked out. "But Maya.." I heard the sadness in her voice. Why am I doing this? Why am I crying? Why am I even upset? I love her, but- just knowing she doesn't love me back kills me.. I slowly get up, unlocking the door, slowly backing away from the door, wiping the tears from my face, looking down. "Maya?.. Can I come in?" She asked sympathetically. Not wanting to say anything, I slowly open the door, looking down. As soon as I open the door, Riley hugs me tightly, not letting go. "Maya please tell me what's wrong.." She whispered in my ear, as I finally hug back, hiding my face in her shoulder. "I'm in love with you.."
