I turned off the engine, I had been trying to prepare a speech I'd say to them, but the drive wasn't long enough. I had no idea why I had followed them here. Why couldn't I just let them have the horse? Would it matter? I needed to focus on Night Runner, and I already ditched her for a horse I initially didn't care about.
I didn't hear anything in the barn, so I walked up to the house and rang the door bell. I could hear it echo through the house, and I heard faint whispers. I was going to just abandon the idea of retrieving this horse, but as I started to turn around, I heard the unmistakable sound of riding boots clack on a wooden floor. I turned back toward the door as it started to creak open. Christina was at the door, trying to hide her suspicious glare. " Um hi Christina, I was wondering if uh maybe Anna or Jessica were there by chance?" " Ya sure come in, were just in the kitchen." Her words though had no cheerfulness, were somewhat comforting because maybe I could reason with them. I took a deep breath and walked into the house.
