Scotland - 19th May 1892
'Tummy in!' Siobhan shouts.
'It is in!' I cry as she tightens the corset around my torso. I look in the mirror and wince. She pulls the purple velvet string tying the corest tighter and I gasp lightly, feeling it tighten around my body.
'In!' She cries, giving it another breaktaking pull.
'It won't go any further,' I gasp, feeling lightheated. I shoot a glance at my best friend, Julliette who has been having a good old laugh at me.
'Please, Juliette,' I say desperately. She closes her mouth but I can still see the reminants of her laughs in her sparkling blue eyes.
Julliette is looking beautiful as she always does. Her long curly blond hair has been tied up in a braid and then wound around her head. She is wearing a long red velvet dress with a dangerous black edge as you can see the top of her corset coming out of the lining of her low neck dress. I recognise the string of her mother's gold encrusted garnets has been placed on her pale, bare chest and the matching tiara head piece lay perfectly on her mound of blond hair.
'Look now, you slackened up. Tighter!' Siobhan barks and I suck my tummy in as far as it will go. I wince so my much blue eyes were practically closed.
I hear Juliette giggle again and I can't help but smile at her.
'Thank you,' Siobhan murmurs with relief as she ties a bow with the strings of my corset. I breathe shallowly.
'Your Welcome...' I mumble, out of breath.
I sink back into a chair behind me and look at myself in the mirror lazily as Siobhan runs to get my dress.
'You do look rather stunning,' Juliette states.
'Thank you, darling, you should see yourself. The men will be fawning over your beauty,' I smile back at her.
Siobhan, my personal maid and dresser, arranged my long curly brown hair in a small bun with a strand of hair falling past my chest and down past my waist. She had put a ring of small purple flowers around my bun. My chest wasn't bare. Lying on it was a string of rare pink pearls that would have only been worn once or twice and only but my family, the Vamparian Ariostocrats.
A Vamparian Aristocrat is different from a normal aristocrat. A Vamparian Aristocrat goes a long way back to the time of witches, goblins, hags and vampires. The Vamparian Aristocrats were said to be a clan on vampires of maybe eleven. They hid from people and only came out during the night when even the moon itself had retreated behind the clouds but all that nonesense about drinking blood wasn't true.
A couple of hundred years ago, the Vamparian Aristocrats were said to be extinct but they weren't. There were three left hiding far away in the Scottish mountains. Those three Aristocrats brought back the life of the Vamparian Aristocrat and I live in a huge clan of these people.
We had to keep our race a secret though. If any of the outsiders new, we would all have to leave or stay and perish.
I am Lucinda Godwin. I'm an Vampairan Aristocrat, brought up in one of the highest manners there is by an extremely wealthy family. I was born to Lord Charles III and Lady Margret Godwin. We live in Scotland. Our race has always lived in the one manor, Godwin Manor which is most definately got enough rooms to fit the whole of the United Kingdom in.
Even I haven't explored all of them which is saying something.
I have four siblings, three brothers, Charles IV, Edward and Robert and one sister, Beatrice. We're all Vamparian Arostocrats.
Mother doesn't believe in the way that father treats the pesants. I couldn't care less. If they wanted money, they would do proper jobs to make money like father has. We all have our own opinion on the pesants. Father says they are slack assed and lazy as does Charles, Edward, Robert, Beatrice and me. Mother says he's too harsh and dislikes the way he doesn't slack off on their taxes to him.
Then mother and father would get themselves into a huge debate and it will be the new subject over dinner which is great because Charlies, Teddy, Robert, Bea and I couldn't really care.
'Miss Lucinda, Miss Lucinda!' Siobhan cries hurrying in with a long puffy baby blue silk gown. Like Juliette's velvet gown, it is low neck, exposing the tops of my breasts which to be honest, i wasn't comfortable about.
I let Siobhan dress me into the dress and well, i did look rather nice to be completely frank. Juliette smiles at me as Siobhan does the buttons up at the back of the blue dress.
'You look like a stunning blue silk puff of beauty...' Juliette says in awe. She stands up and stumbles over to me as she still hasn't quite got the hang of walking in healed shoes.
'Thank you.' I say quietly. and Siobhan ties the laces on my white shoes.
'You look marvelous!' A voice rings from behind us. Mother stands there smiling at me. She is wearing a gold gown done up high at the neck and her blond, but graying hair is tied up in a big bun and hiden away by a golden crown.
'Miss Clemmens,' Mother says adressing Juliette. Julliette bows her head respectfully to my mother. Even thought Juliette and I are at the same class, the Vamparian Aristocrats, my mother has the post of the High Maiden which in our race's terms, is the same level as a queen.
Mother looks at Siobhan and flicks her head in the direction of the door sternly. Siobhan bows and hurriedly runs out of the door.Julliette and I both surpress a giggle.
'Now, girls, Miss Clemmens, I expect you have your dance already sorted out?' Mother says. Her picky brown eyes search through Julliette's light blue ones.
'Yes, ma'am.' She says and scuttles away. Mother nods curtly.
'Lucinda,' She says turning her eagle eyed gaze to me. 'James is waiting in the ballroom to dance,'
I dont move. I sigh gravely on the inside.
'Go, now.' Mother says sharply and I make my way out of my dressing room with more gloom than a normal girl could possibly be.
