Luckily the girls managed to get the message across to Mahoney. He used his initiative and assembled a team of cops he knew where clean. Dinah Madani also pulled through. She managed to find Jules's location from the tracker in the submarine. In the days her and Matt departed she had also been busy. Making a discreet network of clean agents and filling them in on the current situation. Both her and Mahoney's team where able to catch Fisk's people at the docks before they were even able to make it into the city. It was bloody and brutal, but they managed to come out on top. The criminal systems had severe investigations involving the firing of Nick Fury and other agents in high esteemed positions. Jules managed to clear her name and prove she was framed due to the efforts of Jameson and Fisk.  She was also able to prove Jameson's death was a result of self defence. Fisk was arrested and was currently on trial for murder and a dozen other damning charges. He wasn't being dealt with gently, things weren't looking good for him. Without a leader to follow his people had no direction therefore, their regime crumbled. Jameson was dead. And Matthew Murdock was dead.

One month later...

Jules stands infront of Matt's grave. It had taken a few weeks to set up his funeral. She'd been in and out a constant state of shock and despair riddled with overpowering guilt and nightmares. Barely able to function and mostly staying holed up in her apartment with Jess. She'd resigned from S.H.I.E.L.D. She just couldn't stomach going back. That's were it all started. She closes her eyes and automatically she sees Matt's dead body. She opens them again. Face to face with his grave. She sobs, being brought to her knees.

Jules hears shuffling and she turns. Foggy and Karen comes up from behind her, each kneeling on either side of her. Jules sniffs and wipes her eyes with a tissue. "I'm really gonna miss him. He was my brother." States Foggy and Jules nods. Karen tears up. "He was there for me when all odds were stacked against me. "I'm sorry guys, I should've done something. I wish there was another option." Foggy places a firm hand on her shoulder. "Hey. Don't torture yourself. Matt knew the risk with what came with doing this job. Yes, I'm angry at him and this isn't fair." Jules cries silently. "But he died protecting someone he loved and honestly, for him, that was probably the best way for him to go." Karen rubs Jules back. "You don't have to go through this alone Jules."

"It just hurts so fucking much." Karen nods. "I know. Maybe that will never go away." She looks at Matt's grave. "We've lost someone special. Its not about forgetting or moving on. But what we now choose to do with that pain." She nudges Jules. "How we choose to continue our stories, For Matt. But most importantly, for ourselves."
