Chpater 18: Bento Boxes?

Start from the beginning

F/N: Well, that depends on the person...but thank you for the idea, Kanna.

I gently patted her head as the girls returned and quickly got to work preparing their dishes. Well, one of them, that is. While Tohru was crafting a masterful-looking salad, my sister simply picked through a bag of mini tomatoes, carefully pulling two out of the bag and putting them on a plate as Tohru finished up. Both turned around and presented their dishes to the three judges and myself.

Luca: Well, first dish complete! Let's see what we got. Contestant Kobayashi is serving cherry tomatoes.

She said as my sister nodded; however, Tohru just snorted as she looked at the measly dish.

Tohru: Hah! Did you throw the match? How can you possibly expect to win with that against my seafood and paprika Caeser! I mean, there is no comparison!

F/N: Yeah, but this is entirely one-sided, Fafnir, if you could.

Fafnir: Yes, the round one dish goes to Ms. Kobayashi.

He said as Tohru's face went pale and shocked as she stared at her friend. Quickly putting her dish aside, the dragon promptly slammed both her fists into the table as she yelled, her tail swatting back and forth aggressively.

Tohru: WHAT! HOW DID I LOSE! I cannot accept this ruling! This is rigged! How did my salad extravaganza lose to two tomatoes'!

Luca: Well, allow me to explain. You went into this without knowing what a bento box is. Thus, you failed to think about the limited space. Therefore, simply put, you made too much.

She said, Tohru looking over in defeat at my sister, who, with the much smug smirk, just gave the dragon a nod. Tohru just gasped in shock before growling as her hands tightened into fists.

Tohru: Well then, time for round two, and I won't lose this time!

She yelled as both contestants got to work on crafting their meals, and within the next thirty minutes, her statement turned true. My sister's eggs and bacon lost out to burgers, which, while she tried to defend, ended up accepting her defeat with a defeated sigh. Thus, it all came down to the final round, the tiebreaker.

Fafnir: It is now the last round, desserts. Something in a cup or fruit will suffice. You are to bring one item that has not been cooked, understand?

Girls: Yes, sir!"

They said in unison before running off again, leaving the four of us alone once more, Fafnir glancing over my way with a slight glare as he spoke.

Fafnir: Are you ever going to get dressed for the day? You've been wearing those clothes since you woke up this morning.

F/N: Nope, and this comes from the dragon who wears the same scale outfit daily. Plus, this is my apartment, my house, my rules. Though...Fafnir, I'm surprised you haven't called me half-breed in a while. Am I finally growing on you?

I said with a teasing smirk as the dragon snorted and looked away. Kanna simply looked between us as Luca gave a soft chuckle when the old dragon spoke.

Fafnir: To put it simply, you have sealed which makes you a threat to everyone, meaning your power is not what it could have been. Thus, you aren't a danger to me and those around you, that is all.

Luca: Sure, and it has nothing to do with Tohru's threat to burn you alive if you ever pushed him over the edge again. On a point, how is that seal doing?

She asked me as I pulled my collar out and looked down, the faintest of glows beginning to erupt from my skin in the shape of the seal. Sighing a little, I dropped the collar and looked at them again.
