speaking seriously, though, i absolutely loved episode 4. sadie is such an amazing actress and the whole memory montage and the lumax at the end had me in tears! (this was also written BEFORE vol. 2) one of the best if not the best episode. and THE SONG!!!

"Max!"

Dustin, Lucas, and Steve screamed frantically as she sat eerily still by Billy's grave under Vecna's trance, her eyes ghostly white and her head twitching slightly. She was under Vecna's control now.

Meanwhile, Max could feel the humanoid creature's hold on her throat tightening in the misty red dimension. "You belong here. With me." The slimy rope coiled around her neck as Max gasped for air. "Y-you're not...really here." She said as Vecna tilted his head and continued to choke her, still intent on his goal of taking her just like the others. "Oh, but I am, Max. I am." He raised his long clawed hand and hovered it inches above her face, focusing on the task at hand.

"Holy shit" Lucas backed away in shock as Max's external body began to float upwards into the air, stuck under the monster's control. Running Up That Hill continued to blast in Max's ears as she spotted a large wormhole-like opening in the horrifying red setting.

She continued to gasp for air as she heard Vecna's chilling voice. "They can't help you, Max." Max tried to block out the creature's trap of voicing every single one of her insecurities and doubts. She tried to think of all the happy memories with everyone she cared about, new family in Hawkins. She instantly thought of Lucas, the boy who had helped her find her way to all the adventures that came with being part of the Hawkins Party. The first boy she loved. Flashbacks of the summer of 1985 flashed through her mind. Max and El, shopping at Starcourt. Of course. How could she forget that?

"I'm right here." Glimpses of Lucas, El, and all her friends (more like family) flashed by. Max suddenly saw a memory from the fall of 1984, the Snowball. Lucas sheepishly asking her to dance. Her first kiss. A tear trailed down her face as she had one last memory of her and El, and Max suddenly felt a surge of adrenaline, tore her hand from Vecna's hold and ripped a large piece of flesh from his neck, causing him to let her go and groan in pain. Run, Max, run. And she ran. She ran faster than she's ever run before. Vecna growled in anger, closing his hand in a fist, sending a large piece of debri flying right above Max's path. It knocked her over and Max felt the red liquid cover her legs, but she got up and kept running, not looking back. She lunged forward toward the glowing opening, and jumped.

"Max!!"

Max's eyes snapped open and she gasped for air as the connection was broken. She pummeled toward the ground, nearly missing the stone near her step-brother's grave. Dustin, Steve, and Lucas immediately surrounded her, frantically asking handfuls of worried questions. She felt Lucas instantly wrap his arms around her tightly, feeling so relieved. "I-I thought we lost you." His voice broke, and Max shook her head, leaning into his hold, still catching her breath. "I'm still here. I-I'm still here." She heard everyone sigh in relief as the three boys wrapped her in their comforting arms. This feels like home.

"Are you ok?" Dustin asked worriedly, his hand on her knee as Lucas held her in his arms. She nodded, tears trailing down her cheeks as Steve put his hand on her shoulder. "Let's go to Wheeler's house. Get some rest. Yeah?" Steve suggested, still looking at the others and Max worriedly. She nodded, though she knew she wouldn't be getting any sleep tonight. Lucas helped her up as they walked to Steve's car. Max got in the backseat, still shaken up as Lucas worriedly glanced at her every few seconds and Dustin and Steve talked in vague whispers in the front about everything that had just happened.
