"sorry I'm late. they slept in for once in their life and there is a ton of traffic on the highway because of a huge crash with like 4 cars" Brielle said as I walked out of my house to offer assistance
"can you do me a favor and fill these with water. they didn't have time to sit and drink" she went into the princess bag hanging off one of her arms and grabbed two water bottles then handing it to me as she went to get the girls out of the car. I nodded, agreeing to do so.
she got Makenzie and Makayla out of the car and brought them into the house
"is there anything I need to know before you go'' I asked knowing she was in a rush and needed to get to work
"I cant think of anything right now but have your phone close to you in case something comes up"
"yeah I will but that shouldn't happen so I think we will be fine"
"what" i asked after she gave me a look
"the thing you told me last night..." i nodded, indicating her to go on
"i need to know that you wont be distracted by anything online today because your priority is the girls.. i don't want to hear from them that all they did was watch TV while you played video games-" she stated rambling
"Brielle don't worry. i know and that was never my intentions nor was it even a thought. i want to get to know them. im not going to ignore them. promise on my cats life" he held out his pinky but she never took it

"one question though.. what do they even like to watch"

"chill out. what i meant was just while they ease into the house and me, i was going to watch something with them"

I turned on the TV and went to Disney+ to find a movie that they would like
"okay well i have to go. ill see you later i guess. bye Makenzie- bye Makayla- be good" she said giving both the girls a kiss and they said bye. Although Makenzie and Makayla were still a little shy in front of me they still were a lot more social today than yesterday when they practically hid from me
"you do know that if you are going to have a hell of a time trying to keep a eye on two children. i bet they are both going to try to go in opposite directions 90% of the time"
"I know I know. also I was going to take them to this cool trampoline kid place i found the other day and it is connected to a restaurant. if you want to, you can join and get out of streaming" i said trying to get a little more help today after all this is my first time alone with them
"you really think that's a good idea. risking me being spotted going into a children's play area and having lunch with two young kids and a giant blond dude"

"whats wrong girls" I said trying my best to stop the very rapidly escalating fight
"she wont share" "I want to play this game and she keeps trying to take it from me" they both tried talking at the same time which only made the room explode in yells between the two girls.
this is going to be a longgg day
The movie finished like 2 minutes ago and Nick, the girls, and i were now all outside. I had given the girls my phone to play a randomly downloaded game while i tried to figure out how to get the car seats Brielle had left for us in my car
"girls we are about to leave so that doesn't matter" i said holding my hand back out so Makenzie would give the phone back
"wheres mommy" Makayla asked getting impatient of waiting
"she is at work. she will be done later and then she can pick you guys up" i said finally figuring out how to get the car seats attached
"how do you know our mommy" Makenzie asked after jumping in her car seat
"we went to school with each other" this was only the start of the many curious questions asked.
