A Little Less Trees

It had been a week since the Rockies pack, including Theo, had left Beacon Hills. And Liam was miserable. The puppy pack were spending the nights at Liam's to help cheer him up but to no avail.

"He won't be gone forever." Corey reminded him once again. Liam growled at this, of course.

"Not helpful." He grumbled.

"I miss Ben," Alec whined, sounding as gutted as Liam felt.

"Jeez. Why are gays so dramatic?" Mason muttered.

"M'not gay. I just like Theo." Liam rebutted.

"Liking a guy while being a guy is the definition of gay," Mason said.

"That's bi-erasure." Nolan pointed out.

"Regardless of sexuality, I miss my boyfriend," Liam muttered into a pillow.

"We know, Li," Corey said sympathetically, patting him on the back.

"I wish Ben would text back more often." Alec sighed.

"He said he might not have service out there." Corey reminded him.

"Yeah, but still."

"You don't miss Ben as much as I miss Theo," Liam groaned. "You can't possibly."

"I do so!" Alec argued.

"You only knew him for like a week."

"6 months!" Liam rolled his eyes and zipped up the sweater Theo had given him before he'd left. It barely even smelled like him anymore. But he took in a deep breath, and it made him feel better for a bit. The words safe and mine echoed in his head. It made the wolf inside feel better too.

"I've known Theo longer."

"Please stop arguing about this." Nolan pleaded. "Can't we just play video games and forget about this for now?"

"Nope." Liam and Alec said in tandem.

"I need new friends." Nolan muttered.

"Isn't there anything new we could talk about?" Corey asked. "Mason?"

"Um. There's a new bar we could check out?" Mason suggested.

"Nope. Too loud." Liam sighed.

"Yeah, I'm over the bar scene." Alec agreed.

"Okay. I really need new friends." Nolan sighed.

----

"Man, seriously, no service? Damn!" Ben swore.

"Meg, can we please go somewhere with a little fewer trees?" Theo asked.

"Christ, if I knew getting you guys into relationships would be so irritating, I never would've tried to help." Megan sighed.

"Yes, you would've. We all know you're the meddling type." Serena pointed out. The group of them were sat around a campfire that was starting to die out. They were at least a day outside of Beacon Hills. Theo and Ben, however, had been a little restless as of late. Ben had even attempted to climb a tree with his phone in his hand, searching for a signal. Luckily, he hadn't made it up too high when he had slipped and scraped his hand on the bark.

"I can't believe you two. We're werewolves. Grow up and enjoy the wilderness." Paul added. "Smell that fresh pine air. Listen to the river. C'mon."

"Not everyone is that kind of wolf, Paul," Cris said. "So, where to next?"

Isaac sat on a tree stump, reading the map Paul had stolen from a gas station. "Calimesa sounds cool."

"Wow. That is not a cool town name. Really? Like California and Mesa meaning table?" Serena asked. "Not fun."

"Coachella?" Isaac offered. The festival is still a while from now, so there shouldn't be many people around."

Meg scrunched her nose. "No thanks. It probably still smells like weed and bad decisions all year round."

"El Centro?"

"At that point, let's just go to Mexico," Alan said.

"Or we could go back?" Ben suggested. "I mean, it's not like we don't have a place to stay."

"We don't go back, Ben. You know that." Serena reminded him.

"Yeah, but maybe this time we could." He said sheepishly.

"We could go North to Death Valley?" Isaac said, focused on the map.

"Ben, do you really want to go back or is it just about Alec?" Megan asked, meeting his eyes.

"I miss him," Ben admitted. "But I do want to go back. This doesn't feel right anymore."

"I know what you mean, man." Alan agreed. "Ever since we left, it's like there's something wrong? Like we're supposed to stick around."

"Yeah, exactly!"

"Theo?" Meg asked.

"I'm happy to be with you guys. It's cool to finally have a pack. Somewhere I belong. But, I do miss Liam."

"That's fair." Megan nodded. "I'm glad you feel that way."

"Either way, we have to text Derek to let him know where we end up," Isaac spoke up. "So, have we decided?" He asked, looking up from the map.

"Ser? Cris? Paul? What are you three thinking?" Megan asked.

"It was alright." Serena shrugged. "If I'm being honest, I preferred Paris, but obviously, we can't go back now."

"Beacon Hills was cool. I liked the people. Well, some of them. But it didn't feel like home." Cris admitted.

"I don't really care. But we don't usually go back, and I feel like it might be weird if we did?" Paul said.

"Usually, we don't go back because someone's seen our faces and figured out who and what we are," Isaac explained. "Especially after some of us have committed a few crimes there." He looked at Paul.

"But nobody did anything bad in Beacon. We didn't even break into the high school since Theo borrowed Mason's keys." Megan reminded them. "We could go back. If it's alright with everyone."

------------

"Hey, I thought you guys were going to tell me where you ended up?" Derek asked.

"Turns out two members really didn't want to be away from their boys," Meg explained.

"I should've known," Derek replied, side-stepping so that Megan and Isaac could enter the loft. "And the rest of them?"

"Back at the house, sleeping," Isaac said.

"Where's the cop?" Megan asked.

"Yo," Stiles said from the dining table.

"Nice to see you in one piece, Stiles." Isaac grinned, sitting across from him.

"Thanks."

"Any news from your dad and Melissa?" Megan asked, sitting next to Stiles.

"Nothing new. She's only a few months along, so we should still have a bit of a wait." Stiles said.

"That'll be one cute kid," Derek said, pulling out a chair beside Isaac. "Especially if they look anything like you." Stiles blushed.

"So, you guys official, then?" Megan asked.

"Yep. We're even Facebook official now. Soon we'll even have pups of our own." Stiles joked.

"I bet." Megan smiled. "The two of you make an adorable couple." She said, looking between them.

"Thank you," Derek said, blushing.

"You should've gotten together years ago," Isaac said. "Honestly, you were too busy being stupid to notice."

"Hey! He was the one being all emotionally constipated!" Stiles argued.

"Point still stands," Isaac said.
