When Y/N came too she was on the ground. A group of people crowded around her.
"Are you okay hun?" Asked a young blond woman who had a concerned look on her face as she fanned Y/N.
"You just suddenly fainted on the corner of the street. Gave us all a scare!" the woman explained.
As the woman kept asking questions, Y/N looked around her. There were about 5 people around her, including the blond woman.
"I'm fine, thank you." Y/N explained as she slowly started to get up.
Seeing that she was seemingly fine, the crowd began to disperse.
"Are you sure you're fine? You don't need to go to a hospital or anything? We don't want you falling out again."
"Yea, I'm sure. Thanks again for your concern." Y/N said sincerely.
The woman then said a few more words to Y/N before she got up and turned to leave. Y/N watched her walk away and then sat up. She began to quickly rewind her memories to remember what had just happened to her.
The last thing she remembers is seeing the truck come barreling towards her and then seeing a quick flash of light before she woke up here. Thinking of "here", she began to look around and saw a town that looked straight out of the movie 'Pretty in Pink' or something!
This clearly wasn't 2022. People were dressed differently, walking along the streets. She had never seen so many people walking as she did right now.
In 2022 people barely walked unless it was some outdoor mall or something. There were people walking around with beatboxes on their shoulders.
This clearly was not the street she was on earlier. Literally what the fuck?! Y/N could not believe her eyes. She silently sat and watched the people pass, aware that she must look like a real idiot sitting there in the middle of the sidewalk.
After a bit she quickly stood up and checked her clothes. She was wearing a pair of blue bell bottom jeans that hugged her curvy body and a white collared shirt. This definitely was not what she was wearing before she got hit by the truck.
She then noticed there was something in her pocket. It was a wallet. Inside was some cash, an ID that was presumably hers and some change and a card with her name and a number on it.
She took the ID out and began to inspect it. Sure enough it was her face on it, her name and an unknown address. Maybe it was her address? But that doesn't make any sense! She isn't from here!
She paused. Maybe whatever sent her here didn't send her here high and dry. It left her some things to help her fit in and not fall into the dark depths of what society could be if you had nothing to your name.
In that case Y/N was thankful. She carefully began to study the address and remember it. She then studied the card with her name and an unknown number on it. Maybe this for when or if something happened to her they would know where and who to call?
Better to try, she thought, since she didn't know what else to do so she began to look for a payphone or something remembering that there were no cell phones at this point in time.
As she began to walk she passed by many stores. There were so many things that were like a movie to her. This time period, so far from her reach before, was now right in front of her eyes and she loved it but also felt afraid.
Does this mean she can not go home? Was she supposed to live here from now on?
As she contemplated these questions she saw a payphone across the street in the distance. In her excitement she began to run across the street like she didn't just wake up from being possibly killed in a car crash and yeeted into the 1980's.
A car that was passing by honked and the driver yelled out.
"Hey! Watch it lady! You tryna die here?!" as he passed by, almost hitting her.
When she finally made it to the payphone she scrambled to get inside. She took out the card again and then took a look at the price. 10 cents? That was super cheap! She began to rummage through the wallet and found 10 cents.
She put in the coin and began to pin in the phone number or in this era, landline. She anxiously listened to the phone ring.
Beep...beep...beep...clink
"Hello?"
Y/N paused. What was she supposed to say?
"Umm..is this Y/N Y/LN residence?"
"Yes it is...Y/N what are you doing?" the voice said with mirth in it.
So this is her mom or something Y/N deduced.
"Nothing much, can you come and get me please..?" She asked the person on the phone who seemed to be a female.
"Is something wrong?" The voice asked with concern.
"No nothing, I just don't feel well. I fainted for a bit" Y/N said truthfully.
"Whoa! You fainted! Where are you? I'm on my way!"The voice said as Y/N heard some noise on the other side. The other party presumably putting things away.
"I'm on...ugh.." Y/N said, looking for the intersection names.
"Gloria and Maine." She finally said after looking at the street signs.
"Okay you just stay there! Sit down somewhere I will be there quicker than you can say mother may I." Then the line went dead.
Y/N took a seat on the curb and patiently waited while watching the world go by.
Well this is my life now.
