LOTR Rants | Mostly Aralas

lotr and aralas things ive been thinking abt recently

Okay i've said it several times in the last couple chapters and i will say it AGAIN, i recently rewatched all of lotr.  Then, for shits and giggles, i watched the 1970s animated versions of lotr, which was........ an experience, to say the least.

so because of this ive just been thinking a lot about the fandom in general, specifically their visual reps by peter jackson and ralph bakshi respectively.

one of those things is the subject of the whole last chapter and im STILL thinking abt that bc i am in fact a cave troll who clings to theories like friggin smaug. butttttt there are other things which i wanna mention here

sooooo voila y'all get this chapter: a compilation of lotr and aralas related things that have recently had me in a mental chokehold

- THERES A TOM BOMBADIL REFERENCE IN THE TWO TOWERS EXTENDED EDITION AND I WILL NOT SHUT UP ABT IT

okay yes im a tom bombadil stan blah blah blah WE GET IT IM TRASH FOR HIM 

BUT LITERALLY IVE SEEN THE MOVIES SO MANY TIMES AND IVE NEVER NOTICED THIS

okay so yk how tommy b's whole thing in the fotr book is like "sleep little hobbits no harm will come to you here fear no lightly noise heed no willow" or smth like that while they're chilling in his house, like even his WIFE goldberry says this

Quotes:

"Sleep till the morning-light, rest on the pillow!  Heed no nightly noise!  Fear no grey willow!"

"Fear nothing!  Have peace until the morning!  Heed no nightly noises!"

"Have peace now," she said, "until the morning!  Heed no nightly noises!"

RIGHT so this is like a big deal to him its an important quote right???? like when a character said this you'd immediately think "oh yeah tom bombadil" right???? RIGHHT??????

SO HOW DO YALL EXPLAIN THIS:

At 1:45 in this video mf TREEBEARD says "sleep little shirelings, HEED NO NIGHTLY NOISE."

AND WE ALL KNOW THAT TOMMY B WAS COMPLETELY CUT OUT OF THE MOVIES SPECIFICALLY FOTR EVEN THO HES KINDA A BIG DEAL AND THE TOM BOMBADIL STAN COMMUNITY IS STILL SOUR ABT THAT AND THATS WHY WERE ALL SO EXCITED FOR RINGS OF POWER BC WE MIGHT GET TO SEE HIM

BUT MF PETER JACKSON KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING WHEN HE MADE HIM SAY SPECIFICALLY THAT LINE

BC TREEBEARD IS ARGUABLY THE CHARACTER AT LEAST IN THE MOVIES THE MOST SIMILAR TO TOMMY B AND TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT HE CUT HIM OUT HE MADE HIM SAY THAT LINE AS A TRIBUTE TO TOM BOMBADIL

anyways when i was rewatching i immediately got up and looked up  in the two towers to see if treebeard ever said that specific line AND HE DIDNT NOT EVEN ANYTHING CLOSE so peter jackson knew what he was doing

like when someone says they dont ship it im genuinely like???? did we???? watch the same movies???? or???

LIKE THERES SO MUCH FREAKING CHEMISTRY AND SO MANY MOMENTS WHERE IM JUST LIKE COME ONNNNNNNNNNNN THERE IS NO HETEROSEXUAL EXPLANATION FOR THIS

anyways for anyone who doesnt ship it ur homework is to a) go read my chapters abt them and b) REWATCH THE MOVIES and then LOOK ME IN THE EYES and tell me again they were jUsT fRiEnDs
