„Perfect Soldiers And Strong Working Slaves"

David stopped the picture, assessing carefully our reactions.

All eyes were resting on our friends, who the people of Desa called 'creatures'. Gaisgeil, Ronan, Yrina and Kane were silent. Their pale faces displayed hurt and anger. For a short moment, Ainmire's and my eyes met. I saw the unbelief, the disgust and anger on his features. Yes, we wanted the truth, but this...this was too much of it. The Islendigur leant back in their seats, speechless, unable to utter a word.

My head turned to a very calm Gaisgeil. His eyes were blank, but his fisted hands lying on the table, his white knuckles, were a proove of his inner fury.

I clasped my hand around one of his big fists. "Mo ghaoil, I love you, no matter what we heard, no matter what these bad people intended as our fate. You are my destined and we are in this together, forever", I said in a tender voice.

Slowly his head turned to me, trailing my face. "You still want me, after everything you heard?"

My forehead wrinkled in question. "Why shouldn't I?", I asked uncomprehendlingly.

He laughed a cynical cruel laugh. "BECAUSE we are nothing more than a genetical experiment that went wrong, Callida. Look at us! Don't you see, how wrong our existenece is?"

His face hardened. "They should have killed the first generation of us. But they were too weak, like humans are. Their emotions and morals wouldn't let them kill children who are a threat."

He turned away again. "It would have been better", he muttered. Everyone in the room was silent, listening.

"No, Gaisgeil, no", I shook my head vehemently, grabbing his arm. "Yes, you have traits that are scary to us humans. Yes, your strength intimidates us, but your choices and actions do not only depend on your instinct but your own free will."

With my other hand I pointed to Ronan, Yrina and Kane, who listened to every word I said. "Look, how different you are. Look at Ronan. I've never met a person, who has more kindness in his heart than him. And he is a Dhaoine. Yrina: I've never met someone who is more loyal than her, who would die in the name of friendship. And she is a Laidir. Look at Kane: He CHOSE to do the right thing, against all instinct and in full knowledge of possible consequences. And he is a Creachadair."

All people looked at me in awe. "WE decide our actions, WE make our decisions...you are not animals. You are humanoid beings with their own choices."

Ronan, Yrina, Kane and Ainmire watched me with different emotions: love, friendship and total respect. They were my family and I would protect them untill my last breath.

Gaisgeil pulled me onto his lap, showering me in soft kisses, not caring at all, who was whitnessing. "I love you, Callida, so so much!"

"Callida, you are destined to unite our worlds, this is your fate. To be a ruler, to make a change", David said smiling, respect clearly written on his features.

I blushed while enjoying Gaisgeil's caresses. "I will never let you go, Callida, you made your own bed", my destined murmured between kisses.

"Oh, but I don't want to leave your bed", I whispered back. A snicker was heard. Good-natured Ronan was back.

"Yeah, we know, Callida...", he laughed at me. I stuck my tongue out at him. Another snort was heard.

"Please, let us finish the video clip, we are nearly at the end", David shook his head smiling at our childish behaviour. Again, he pressed the little button.

An old and white bearded Fabian appeared. He must have been in his late seventies.

He laughed dryly. "27. February 2130. We needed almost going under in the big wave to understand, what we originated with our greed and senseless exploitation of nature."

The old version of Fabian huffed, obviously sitting in the big glass house, we passed on our way to this room.

"Here we are know. The big wave caused by global warming let the sea level rise to an extreme. Many islands drowned, many coastals too. Billions of people died during the wave or afterwards. The last survivors faught for water, food and a safe place to live. This was the rising moment of the empire of the creatures we generated. The big wave set them free and they conquered this new world. We human survivors of the project in Iceland built our refuge and shelter in an old bunker of the second world war here in Brittany. To be sheltered  from the harsh world outside, we inserted a protective shield. The creatures lived in the deserted cities, reigning on the remnants of a human world."
