Hello, once again. This chapter's lesson is on how to structure sentences in Japanese. Now, it is a bit easier for people who know a few words in Japanese because then it'll make a bit more sense. Now, before we actually go into the lesson, you must at least know these phrases ( Look in first chapter to at least recognize the letters in the list below in Japanese.):
What: なに or なん ( Nah-Knee)or ( None)
Where: どこ (Doe-Ko)
Where to: どこに (Doe-Ko-Knee)
Where at: どこで
Why: どうして or なぜ
Who: だれ or どなた
With whom: だれと
To whom ( did you give something): だれに
Which ( Anything in particular): どれ
What kind of: どんな
How ( In traveling sense): なんで
How ( When proposing something): いかが
How much ( Money wise): いくら
How many: いくつ
How long will something take: どのぐらい
When ( Time wise): いつ
What time ( Time in general): なんじ
What day ( Anywhere in the week): なんーようび
What date ( Of the month): なん―いち
What month: なんがつ
How many months: なんーかげつ
What year: なんーねん
How many people: なん―にん
How many animals: なんびき
What floor ( Of a building): なんがい
Now that the phrases are through, now get's to the difficult part for beginners. How exactly do Japanese people structure their sentences together? Well... it's kind of odd when translated in English or any other language other than Japanese. For example, 'I like books.' That is the way it is structured in English, however, in. Japanese, it is structured like this' I books like.' Therefore gives the meaning to it's proper structure in Japanese. ' 私は本が大好きです。' Translated in Romanji:'' Watashi ha hon ga suki desu.'' ( I'll have a list for what items are called in Japanese in the next chapter). Anyways, when translating an English phrase into Japanese, you must put the pronoun first, then the indirect object ( Which is the 'book 'in this sentence.) and then finally the last noun. So, hopefully, this helps out most of you. I understand that it may be difficult in the beginning, but, l know what all of you are going through, sort of. I had to learn English mostly by myself when l was just 8 years old. The only way l got better at the language is by practicing everyday.
