8 years after the kidnap attempt on 5 year old Lexi Finn and 4 year old Woodland Demars, the Fisherman became very interested in the two.
When the Fisherman had found out that his brother had hypnotized the two back in 1997 and placed ideas into Lexi's head during that time, the Fisherman sent Sam Harris to spy on the two.
So for 8 years, Sam Harris lived in Manhattan watching the two friends.
Sam literally watched these two kids grow up. By the time they were 13 and 12, Sam knew their routines so well that he could do it in his sleep.
The days leading up to the kidnapping were hard. The 28 year old had backed off slightly as the Fisherman came back to the City. For a week, the Fisherman watched and talked to Lexi Finn from out side the same gated park that Sam attempted to kidnap her and Woodland from.
Then the fateful day finally came. The day that would cause chaos to the lives of the two friends.
When Sam and the Fisherman finally had the two kids tied up and placed in their van, Sam turned to the Fisherman.
Sam Harris was confused. These two should have recognized him right away. Why hadn't they?
He asked the Fisherman about it.
The Fisherman shrugged and told him not to worry about it.
Sam couldn't shake the feeling that his boss and the brother had done something to the two kids in order for them to forget.
Sam turned to the kids.
There was no sign of recognition from them. He just received frightened looks from the both of them.

After finally reaching the compound, Sam and one other man helped to separate the two friends.
After taking Lexi to the Fisherman's office, Sam looked in on the younger boy.
What he saw surprised him.
Woody Demars was tied to the pole like the Fisherman had asked, but he was now surrounded by Jace Cobber and Joe Flander both men were taking turns hitting him while the Followers watched.
Sam Harris was Captain of the Elite Guards and only he was allowed to hand out punishments to the kidnapped victims.
While making his way to the center of the compound, he saw Jack Thomas and his friend Patrick Jones. Jack had been on the Compound for 3 years now while Patrick had been here for only 1.
When the two teens saw Sam, they quickly looked down at their feet.
"Thomas, what did the boy do?" Sam asked, demanding an answer from the shaking boy.
"The new boy made a noise, sir. Mr. Cobber and Mr. Flander decided to teach him a lesson, sir" Jack said looking at Sam.
Sam glared at the boy. Jack looked back down at his feet.
"Thomas, you will take the new boys punishment while I go inform the boy of the rules. Jones if you don't wish to be punished as well, the Fisherman was asking for his lunch. If you are late delivering it, you will be punished"
"I understand sir. What did he want sir?" Patrick asked.
"His usual, now go. Thomas follow behind me" Sam said as Patrick scampered away to the kitchen to make the Fisherman his lunch.
When the two finally reached the group, Jace and Joe saw Sam.
"Captain, we gave-"
"Thomas untie the boy. Mr. Flander and Mr. Cobber hold the boy, Thomas will take the rest of the boys punishment" Sam said as he tied Jack to the pole like Demars had been.
"Sir what was his punishment?" Jack asked.
Sam looked at Thomas in surprise. The 3 years that the boy had been here not once had he asked what the punishment was.
"He was to be tied to the pole for 24 hours Thomas, now shut up" Sam said as he shoved something down Jack's throat.
With that Jack was left alone for the rest of the day.

Woody was taken to Sam's cabin and tied to a chair.
"Demars, you shouldn't have been punished as you don't know the rules, yet" Sam said.
Woody looked at the man.
"Rule one: You don't make noise. Rule two: You keep your head down unless someone is speaking to you. Rule three: Remember to address the Fisherman as Sir or Master. As for me you address me as Mr. Harris or Sir. Rule five: You speak only when spoken to. Rule six: You do as you are told. Break any of these rules and you will be punished. Do you understand?"
"Y-y-yes, s-s-sir" Woody stuttered looking at Sam.
"You are to stay here for the night. Any struggling will result in a punishment" Sam said watching the scared boy to see if the boy remembered him.

John Doe shook himself from the memory. He still didn't understand why Lexi and Woody didn't recognize him or remember who he was.
The Fisherman had done something to those two.
John turned back to Tucker Larson. The young man was little farther away from the wall that he was chained to. Nelson had walked in earlier that morning and saw how Tucker was bound and had ordered the slight change.
That afternoon, Tucker would get the first test shot of the Phantom Serum that he had secretly altered.
Nelson wanted to witness this.
The boy looked at John Doe with pleading eyes. The older man looked at him with a shake of his head as if to say "I'm Sorry".
Nelson came into the lab just as John was preparing Tucker.
"Hold it John. I just gain some interesting information" Nelson said.
John stopped what he was doing. Tucker let out a muffled sigh.
"What is that sir?" John asked trying to keep the worry from his voice. If Nelson discovered what he had done, both he and Tucker were good as dead.
"Ben returned with some rather startling information, gathered from our lab rat's cell phone. Texts between Subject 1, John Doe, Tom Lang, and Ted Larson. Care to explain why your name would be on the rat's phone?" Nelson asked as two security guards came up behind Nelson and moved behind Tucker Larson.
John felt sweat drip down the back of his neck in nervousness.
Tucker struggled from where he knelt on the floor.
"Get the boy to his feet but don't unchain him at all. Just unchain him from the wall. Then hold him by those chains. John where is the unaltered Phantom Serum?" Nelson asked.
"Gone" John said.
Nelson nodded to his security team.
John turned just in time to see Tucker get tasered in the kidneys.
Tucker let out a muffled scream as he fell to his knees.
"Where is the unaltered serum John?"
John stayed silent.
"Again, this time to his chains"
John watched as Tucker arched his back in pain.
"I don't think he can take much more John. Where is the unaltered serum John?" Nelson asked.
"Fridge" John said finally.
"Good boy John. Tucker Larson is no longer your concern. Go find my son or I will kill you! But first you will watch as I inject the Phantom serum into Mr. Larson." Nelson demanded as the two security guards chained Tucker by his chained wrists and ankles. This caused him to lean forward on his spread apart knees.
John watched as Tucker's eyes blanked after Nelson injected the Serum into him.
"Remove the gag. I want to ask him some questions. John if you are still here then you are next"
John shook and then he left leaving the poor boy to his fate.
