Chapter 24-2019-Lexi Calls Matt

Woods looked at his phone to see who was calling him.

ID: Matt, Boss, Dad

Woods answered but before he could say anything, Matt spoke fast.

"Don't come back, Your done"

Then all Woods could hear was the dial tone.

Lexi and Marky noticed the look on the kids face.

"Who-" Marky was cut off.

"Fired" Woods said as tears filled his eyes.

Jack, Patrick, and Cooper looked at him in surprise.

Benji and Mandy took charge.

"Hey who wants to play a game?" Benji asked

Lexi nodded her head in thanks as the rest of the group made their way over to a soccer field to kick the ball that Benji brought with him around, Cooper went with them too, sensing that this was a private matter between the 4.

Lexi looked to Woods who was crying softly.

The man he had considered his best friend and father figure had just in not so many words fired him. Telling him he was done and not to come back.

"What happened? Who was on the phone?" Patrick Jones asked as his friend cried into the girl Woods had known for years, shoulder.

"M-M-Matt was on the phone. Fired" Woods wept.

The 3 stared in shock.

"Want me to call him?" Lexi asked as she felt her anger rise. She knew how much Matt meant to her friend and vise versa even though she didn't know Matt very well.

"Please"

Lexi's heart shattered at the one word answer. She had a feeling that Jack's and Patrick's hearts did to. Woods was the youngest of their group and they felt as it was their job to keep the boy safe.

Woods now silently crying handed Lexi his phone.

Lexi scrolled down to where Matt's name was and when she saw the name Woods had for him, she got angry.

"Matthew Fredrick when I get my hands on you, your a dead man" Lexi said as she hit the call button.

The phone rang twice before the dead man walking answered his ringing phone.

"Woods I told you-"

"I'm not Woods you bastard!"

Matt heard the anger in the young lady's voice and decided that speaking wasn't worth it. He was glad that he decided not to talk as he heard what Lexi said next.

"You don't get to talk. You listen to me and listen well because I am not a person you want to mess with when I am angry. You made my friend cry! What did he do to you to deserve what you did? Don't answer. He did nothing but love you, Matthew! When I found your name in his phone do you know what he calls you? Again don't answer until I'm done. He calls you Matt, Boss and Dad. I don't know why that is. And I don't care to. Now tell me what made you think of letting my friend  go?"

Matt didn't know what to say. But the next few words that came out of his mouth sealed his fate with irate girl.

"I can't do this right now. He doesn't come back!"

With that Matt hung up.

"He's dead" Lexi said.

Meanwhile.....

Somewhere in Manhattan, the man who looked like Sam Harris was on the phone with the Fisherman.

He had just found out that Jack Thomas, Patrick Jones and Lexi Finn had returned home. Also the Demars boys were in the city as well.

The conversation he had was short and to the point. He  was told to follow the 5 and that if he could get his hands on Woodland, Nelson would be very happy. The Fisherman had been brought up to date by Nelson who told him about what he had learned about the younger Demars boy.

The Doppelganger told the Fisherman what he had learned.

With Woods being fired from his job, finding the serum would be easy and the Doppelganger told the Fisherman this.

The Fisherman laughed and then told the man he didn't need to look for it as Project 863 was dead.

Nelson would be making his move soon.
