Hersilia stood there between the two kings. Two armies. Two sides of her.

Her husband was red in the face, so was the king of her people.

The heat of battle could not be reduced with spears and swords. It could not be pacified with the blood of either king.

Hersilia saw the women. Thousands of mothers and wives were around her, doing the same thing. They threw themselves in the rain of arrows, stood in between their husband and fathers, brothers, cousin, with their babies clung to them. They cried but their tears didn't come from fear or defeat.

I was going to use The Intervention of the Sabine Women by Jacques-Louis David because I absolutely love that one and it is closer to the story but not sure about Wattpad's policy on nudity. It is silly, but even Vienna's museums got censored for their classic arts online. Can't be too careful!
