You couldn't help but think of Dib's excitement from earlier that day. You looked at the ground with a smile. The floor ahead was wet now since it started raining sometime during class. You quite liked the rain. It never failed to calm you down. You hoped it would stay this peaceful. You weren't too optimistic because of a certain loud, green boy who was allergic to water.

You looked up after a few seconds of standing at the school's entrance. It's sheltered in this part of the building. Zim was cautiously looking out at the rain. He was hugging his chest.
You knew that umbrella would come in handy. You didn't exactly mind walking outside, even in this weather. Zim looked back when he heard the sound of your bag hitting the floor. You may have dropped it while trying to pull it off your shoulder.

You simpered. That wasn't the most elegant way to start your first, potentially meaningful interaction with one of your favorite characters. He rolled his eyes and turned back towards the rain. You kneeled to open your bag. After a bit of searching, you pulled out a yellow umbrella. You quickly closed the bag and pulled it over.

It was a bit embarrassing how long it took for you to take and open it. You stared at the opened object briefly. You lowered it slightly and considered tapping Zim's shoulder. You decided it would be best to call his name. He looked towards you. He was frowning ever since he had noticed your presence. With another awkward smile, you pointed the umbrella in his direction.

He took a dramatic step back as if you had tried to hit him with it. He still hadn't said anything. He only eyed it with some confusion.

"Dib told me you're allergic to rain." He did not. Zim didn't know that. "...This is an umbrella. It's sort of like a shield against the rain. You can take it..."

Zim hadn't replied, only moved his gaze from the umbrella to you. You whispered a quiet "if you want to" and looked at the ground beside you. He ripped from your hand and held it away from you. He glared at you a little harder for a moment but inspected it. He experimented by holding it over his head and hummed in response to its apparent functionality.

You smiled again at him and prepared for the cold water. When you made it down to the first step, he stopped you.

"I accept your offer."

"Hmm?"

"Your offer to provide me with information about your people. I accept it. And the shield for the filthy earth water."

"Oh. Cool. That's-good! Yeah!" You didn't shout, but there was some excitement in your voice. "...Is there anything you want to know right now?"

"No. You may go back to your horrible home. I'll contact you if necessary." Zim was lightly spinning the umbrella in his claws, still inspecting it.

"Cool. I guess I'll see you later." You gave him one more polite smile before turning around on your heels and walking into the cold, open air. He only watched you leave with a raised brow.

- .. -- . -....- ... -.- .. .--.

Zim changed his mind about letting you go home. He called you halfway through and 'ordered' you to come to his base. You still had no idea how Zim got your number. You wondered if he knew where you lived too or if he just assumed that your home was horrible.
Either way, you'd have to disagree. You stayed up until way too late last night so that you could decorate your house with books and posters and better furniture. You even embroidered a little bit on some cushions covers.

Back to the present moment, You were walking around a neighborhood with no idea of where Zim's house may be. You called back the odd number and explained your situation. Zim responded with a long sigh and what you assumed was an insult in Irken. He said that he sent Gir to pick you up. You thanked him. He left the call.

"Rude." You weren't sure whether you had to stay in place. Or how Gir would pick you up if he didn't know where you were. Honestly, you didn't know either. You figured he'd find a way. Probably a weird one involving piggies.

Your hair flew onto your face after an annoying gush of wind. You moved it away from your eyes and mouth to look towards the crashing sound you just heard. You were right. Gir crash-landed in front of you in an exaggeratedly deep hole. You looked down at it, careful not to fall.

Gir kept dropping a pig toy into the hole and digging deeper to get it back. That made almost no sense when you narrated it in your mind. You needed to draw a diagram to explain this.

"There was an original, much smaller hole in the ground. Gir landed. He dropped the piggy into it. Gir pushed it in further while trying to pull it out. He dug a hole instead to get the piggy. Every time he started digging..." You tried to explain it to yourself only to realize that Gir would only keep digging.

You ended up jumping in after him. You picked up both him and the piggy. It was hard to climb up a steep hole using only one hand and carrying an overly-energetic robot in the other. After what seemed like far too long, you finally made it out. You checked the time on your phone. It had been about 15 minutes.

"That felt like an hour! I guess 15 minutes is half of half an hour..."

"Can we do it again?"

"No. Sorry."

Gir booed and pouted. You offered to buy him some snacks on the way. He immediately brightened up and jumped off your lap. Gir eagerly got you to stand and pulled you by the hand towards his favorite restaurant. You had to bend over. Gir was almost half of Zim's size. Zim's about 4 feet tall, so not very tall.

Zim was right. The place was filthy. You jumped into a hole in the ground, yet you were still somehow cleaner than that restaurant. You bought Gir his food as you promised. You also left traumatized. Zim probably wouldn't want you anywhere near him after today. At this point, you didn't have the energy to come home and take a shower beforehand.

Gir led you to the base. Looking down at him happily eating his snacks made your struggle worth it. Now that you think of it, the right angle makes anything look better. You opened the door to Zim's house. Zim looked astonished at the sudden arrival.
He eyed the two of you with disgust, both embedded with dirt. Zim staggered back slightly when Gir came into the base. He didn't want Gir touching him in this state.

You apologized and briefly explained your situation. Zim was slightly disappointed. However, he knows what it's like to be on a mission with Gir. Zim seemed to forgive you. Even if he said that if you ever dragged this much dirt into his base again, he would order his gnomes to shoot lasers at you. You chuckled and agreed to those terms. You sort of deserved it.

I think I hate this chapter. I had no idea what to write. I just wanted to add Gir, I tried.
