"Let her go, you monster!"

His grip tighten against her form, every muscle in his body preparing for the enemy's move.

Suddenly, as if the slayers were all synced into one hive mind, they launched forward in unison. The Upper Moon jumped up, dodging the attacks of the slayers. Each frantic attack was almost unpredictable. Even with his see-through sight, Kokushibo was finding it difficult to evade their attacks with Y/N in his arms.

Determining her safety was more important, Kokushibo disappeared from the room with speed almost too fast for the others to comprehend.

Entering the next room, Kokushibo's six eyes caught sight of another two demon slayers.

The Pillar with flame-like hair unsheathed his katana. The Pillar beside him rested his hands upon the two blades resting on his hack, his maroon eyes narrowing upon seeing the woman rested within Kokushibo's arms.

Kokushibo's hold on Y/N tightened, finding himself cornered.

Just a Kokushibo contemplated his next moves, Akaza and Douma appeared beside him, stances ready. Seeing this, Y/N felt her excitement increase, slightly trembling. With two forces on opposing sides, the collision was bound to be catastrophic. The phoenix demon couldn't wait to see the outcome.

Mistaking her excitement for fear, Kokushibo gently put the phoenix demon down before the three Upper Moons moved to form a circle around her, barring her off from the slayers.

The sound of clashing swords echoed loudly throughout the room but with Y/N's sight limited to the back's of the Upper Moons, she felt a bit disappointed.

With their backs turned, Y/N's hands rested on the three syringes hidden within her kimono. Surrounded by chaos, Y/N struggled to make the decision.

Should she return to being a human or stay a demon?

Y/N weighed the choices in her mind, fingers unconsciously fiddling with the vials.

As a human, she was free... but her abilities were limited. As a demon, her powers were enhanced... but the feeling of always being confined was something that she never wanted to experience again. Life within the cramped rooms of the Infinity Fortress was enough to drive her to insanity.

To be a human... the woman could not even remember what it was like to be human and despite hating being trapped in the Infinity fortress, she still felt an odd desire to be strong.

To the phoenix demon, life as a human was blurred. At least, as a demon, she knew what to expect.

As Y/N contemplated, it all came down to choosing the known or the unknown.

Should she choose to stay within the confines of comfortability or should she take the leap and risk either having a better or worse outcome?

The drowned out noise of battle grew louder as she refocused her attention on the chaos occurring around her. Even as marks began appearing on some of the  slayers, giving them bursts of energy, the battle was still far from over.

After watching a multitude of slayers struggle to fight against only three demons, the choice became clear.

You're right, humans are weak...
