"I don't know. I don't think he knows either, to be honest."

Jade was quiet for a few minutes, thinking. Sighing, she decided that all she could do was try. "When are you meeting him?"

"He's picking me up at the animal clinic after work."

"That gives me to the end of the school day. Actually, all of us until the end of the school day because I am not doing this on my own," she responded, gesturing to their group as she stepped into the side of the wall for them to talk.

"To do what?"

"To teach you myself."

"I thought you said it had to be another werewolf that has to help him?" Max questioned.

"Kind of, but not necessarily. First, I promised I'd go and meet Allison and Lydia for lunch. I'll message you where and when to meet me and we can explain," she said, starting to walk away.

                                            ~

"Jade!" Lydia shouted across the cafeteria, her hands cupping her mouth to amplify her already booming voice.

Some people glanced at the blonde who had just got her lunch from the cafeteria, while others stared at Lydia. "Seriously?" she muttered under her breath, covering her face slightly with her hands before thanking the lady who had served her. Quickly making her way towards the table where her friends were sat, she wished the ground would swallow her up whole.

"Hey," she pulled out a chair with her foot, throwing her bag in a heap on the floor and placing her tray on the table. "How are you both?"

"Great!" Lydia exclaimed. For someone who had been attacked by a werewolf two day ago, she looked pretty good. Her hair was sitting on her shoulders, out of her face that was painted with her usual makeup; her cheeks had a rosy pink that raised her cheekbones up, there was mascara tugging at her long lashes and her pink lips were pulled upwards into a smile.

"I'm good," Allison replied, smiling. "Also I'm so, so sorry about the whole mountain lion thing the other day. I would have got you a card but I couldn't find any saying 'sorry my dad tried to shoot you!' I don't know why shops don't have those anymore."

"That's so rude. You could have at least made her one!" Lydia joked at the brunette, rolling her eyes.

"Yeah! They always say homemade things are more heart-felt," Jade faked a look of offence, her hand on her chest. "Honestly, it's okay." Noticing a book in Allison's hands, she tried to read the cover. But apparently reading stuff upside down was more difficult than what you would think. "What's that?"

"Oh my God. Don't even get her started on it," Lydia groaned, her head in her hands. She had literally just got the brunette to shut up about it and now there was going to be another twenty minute conversation.

"Do you know the way for history we have to do a project on something that has a connection to our families?" Allison asked, her eyes gleaming with excitement as she drummed her fingers against the table.

"Yeah."

"My aunt gave me this book about my family," she said. Jade tried not to freak out at the mention of the hunter who had tried to assassinate her, so instead resulted to just nodding. "The Beast of Gevaudan. Listen."

Squinting, Jade tried to remember where she heard the name. It sounded vaguely familiar. Like there was a weird sense of déjà vu from the mention of it.

"A wolf like monster." It was something to do with hunters, anyway, that much she was sure of. "Prowling the areas of France during the years 1764 to 1767."
