Chapter 27. Engineer

Kinaumagahan ay maaga akong gumising pero mas maaga pa rin si Treice. Bumangon na lang ako at umupo sa kama 'tsaka pinaglapat ang aking talampakan sa sahig.

Tamang-tama na kagigising ko lang ay biglang bumukas ang pinto ng silid at niluwa niyon si Treice na may hawak na tray. Lumapit siya sa akin at nilagay ang tray na may mga lamang pagkain sa bedside table bago umupo sa may espasyo sa tabi ko.

"Breakfast in bed, babe, I know you're hungry."

Napairap ako sa kaniya. "Yeah, I'm starving and I want to eat---"

"You want to eat me?" he cut me out jokingly.

Inabot ko ang buhok niya at marahas na sinabunutan siya. "You are crazy!" singhal ko sa kaniya at kaagad din siyang pinakawalan.

He chuckled. "Just kidding, babe. Anyway, are you sore?"

Sinuyod niya pa ako ng tingin habang nakaupo pa rin ako sa kama. Umakyat ang lahat ng dugo ko sa aking mukha dahil sa mainit na titig niya na tila nalulusaw na ako. I just cleared my throat instead and didn't answer his question. Sa halip ay inabot ko iyong tray na dinala niya at kumuha ng inumin doon.

Minutes had passed, both of us are silent but he suddenly broke the atmosphere. "I don't wanna be just being one half of an equation anymore, because I wanted to be whole."

Nasamid ako sa inumin ko nang marinig si Treice. Inilingan ko lamang siya at hindi siya pinansin. Kumuha na lang ako ng makakain at kumain na lamang tutal dama ko rin naman ang gutom ngayon.

"Maris..." he called my name whispery.

"What?" I faced him.

"I just wanna tell you that I don't want to go back in the past. I wanted to forget it all. I don't wanna be that old Treice anymore. I was so imperfect, I was so toxic---"

"All of us has our own toxicities, Treice. Even me," I cut him off. "Just... don't deny your flaws because every one of us has our own bad sides. We are not all perfect, Treice. Remember the rose?" I suddenly asked him.

"Rose? You mean... the rose flower?"

I nodded. "Yeah. Did you see how beautiful it was, right? But... roses has a lot of thorns that might hurt you. Mukhang perpekto iyon sa paningin ng lahat ng tao pero hindi. Ganiyan din ang tao, Treice. If you think everyone is perfect, then you thought wrong. Walang perpekto sa mundong ito, Treice."

"Why are you telling me that?" he asked.

"Because I want you to realize that no one's born to be perfect. Each one of the people in this planet has their own dark pasts. Lahat tayo. Hindi lang sila, hindi lang ako, hindi lang ikaw, kung hindi... lahat tayo. God created us to be who we are, he never created us to be perfect."

"No doubts why I fell in love with a woman like you, Maris. Maybe, you wasn't born to be perfect... But for me, you are so perfect."

We talked a lot of things after that. After I finished eating breakfast, we decided to take a bath together and did our daily routines. Sabay kaming lumabas ni Treice galing sa kaniyang silid at tinungo namin ang sala kung nasaan na naroroon sina Strawberry at Jake na kumakain.

"Hey! Eat with us, couple!" anyaya ni Strawberry nang mamataan kami.

"Tapos na kami," tanggi ni Treice. "Nauna na ako kanina pa at pinakain ko na rin si Maris." Sumulyap pa siya sa akin.
