Division of Feelings (Dazai x Kunikida)

Start from the beginning

"No way that's true!" I yelled at him.

He looked at me and smiled, saying that it was discovered through a recent study by the ADA.

I started writing it down before I realized who he claimed had done this study.

"What is wrong with you?! Don't you understand I have limited pages in this notebook and that therefore it's only for important things?!" I yelled at him, breaking my pen in the process.

The woman looked a little taken aback so I apologized. I rearranged my glasses and got back to work, ignoring Dazai when he smiled at me and said my name in his sing-song voice.

The woman asked me what I wanted to know about her employee. I asked for his address, and explained that he was a suspect in an investigation.

"You aren't going to hurt him, right?" She asked me.

"I just want to ask him some.... questions," I said, hesitating to finish when Dazai laid his head on my shoulder.

I flicked him as the woman asked her secretary to load up the address.

He started staring up at me, not bothering to move his head. I scowled and told him to get off.

"But I love you Kunikiiidaa," he replied.

"Shut up," I said, frowning. "It's because of you that we were late earlier, and then you started flirting with a potential witness!"

His grin got bigger once I said that, and he closed his eyes.

I looked away for a moment to see if the secretary was on her way back to give us the address, when Dazai took my notebook.

"Hey, give that back, Dazai!" I yelled.

His grin lengthened even more.

I grabbed the notebook back from him and shoved him off of me. He fell onto the other side of the couch with a soft thud.

"Kuuniikiidaaa~" Dazai whined.

I smacked him on the head and he only complained more.

"I don't know why I bothered to bring you. All you do is screw up and waste time. And you never try, either!" I complained.

His grin faltered for a second, but then it went back to the way it had been. I assumed I'd caught him off guard with that a little bit and left it at that. He didn't talk for the rest of our time there.

"Dazai, why are you being so quiet?" I asked, suspicious of his sudden silence.

He didn't answer me. He just kept walking beside of me and looking at the ground.

"Dazai, seriously. This is weird," I said, urging him to make some kind of sound.

He didn't. Instead, he stopped walking and turned to look at me.

"Is it something I did?" I asked him.

All he did was nod. Then, he turned back around and continued walking. I followed silently, thinking.

I figured he'd start talking again eventually and decided to just enjoy the silence.

There was a small part of me, however, that had a bad feeling about his silence and what it would end up causing. That small part of me also felt bothered by Dazai's silence.

Eventually, we made it to the home of the man from the picture. I knocked and waited, checking my watch every few seconds.

Nobody answered, so I knocked again. I started tapping my foot to the rhythm of the seconds on my watch.
