One year later

I sunk down into the passengers seat.

I lived with my 19 year old brother, James, ever since the day.

The day I was shot.

Call me a promise breaker, but I moved away before I could repay my debt to Lukas. *shutters at the mention of his name*

I moved away a week after the... Incident, so to speak.

Anyway, I live in an apartment in Massachusetts with my brother because I am planning to attend MIT college when I graduate from high school next year.

My brother and I were driving to get a few things from the store for the new visitor.

Oh, right, the visitor...

My brother's best friend was moving to London and his little brother had previously been living with him.

The only issue was, his little brother couldn't move out of the country with only one year left of high school.

"Okay, so, Thena, we need to have the guess bedroom set up. I'm putting you in charge of that. Okay?" He asked.

I groaned. A boy that was one year older than me was going to be LIVING with us for a year.

By the way, I am 17, making the boy 18.

Curse the world.

And to make it worse, he was in the room next to mine.

And to make it even worser, he was going to go to my school.

The world is very mean! I think the universe is trying to get back at me for not getting kidnapped last year.

Without even realising it, I had reached up to my arm and was tracing the scar from the shot.

It was still slightly dented and about a half inch around.

I had developed a habit of tracing my finger around the scar when I was nervous or bored. I don't really know how I developed this trait, but I couldn't really stop myself.

I sighed.

"Sure. But you have to lean all the other rooms." I answered, finally.

I was wearing a green spaghetti strap dress. This was the first time I had worn anything without much of a sleeve for almost 6 months, but it was warm out... And my brother made me wear it to make a good impression.

I hate the colour of the dress. It was light green and it didn't do much for my skin.

He couldn't have let me wear my pretty little floral dress, or even my black-

"So?" James asked, interrupting my thoughts.

"What?" I asked.

"I asked you what you wanted for dinner." He said slowly.

"Uh... Cheese pizza?" I suggested.

"Sure, we will order pizza." He said.

"Can I stay in the car and you can run in and get the groceries?" I asked.

"No. You have to stick with me, I don't want you getting hurt." He said, strictly. He was super over protective of me.

"I'll be fine. I have my pepper spray with me." I said.

"No." He insisted.

"Fine! But I get to get a few things for myself first. Deal?" I asked, hoping to get free ice cream out of this deal.
