SHELVES WERE STACKED against the walls of the room, making me think the place used to be a store of some sort. People walked around, doing various jobs, some holding walkie-talkies, others some type of weapon. It seemed to be a community, but I didn’t trust it one bit, and neither did Clementine, who was tense as she walked beside me. Then suddenly, the sound of Carver’s voice filtered through the grainy PA system, making me cringe as the feedback rang out and echoed against the solitude.
Carver: We’ve got some familiar faces back with us tonight. Now, I understand some of you are confused as to why we’d bring these people back when they left us as they did.
Stranger: I think I’ve got an idea.
Carver: It might not come all at once, but time will heal these wounds. So be patient with them until it does… and take solace in knowing that they’re here to help us make our home a better place. All these feelings you have of anger, betrayal, hate. They’re all valid. No one needs to forget what they did… but we do have to find it in our hearts to forgive them.
