HAIKYUU ONE SHOTS!!

𝘚𝘩𝘪𝘮𝘪𝘻𝘶 𝘚𝘤𝘳𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘺 ☆ 𝘒𝘪𝘺𝘰𝘛𝘢𝘯𝘢

He talks big but his hands were trembling and it took all of his willpower to not bounce his leg up and down in stress. If this was Kiyoko's father unmasked then his fiancee must've lied to him. This was nothing like the stories Kiyoko told him but he was going to ride through it till his death.

That hopefully won't happen in the Shimizu household.

Her father starts to bring out a handkerchief and starts bawling. "My Kiyoko! How you've grown!" he weeps as Kiyoko lightly facepalm as Kiyoshi starts crying, making Ryuu sit there in shock, looking at Kiyoko in alarm as she sends him an apologetic look.

Aimi, her mother chuckles at her husband's antics before flapping her fan open and gently cooling him down, "Do pardon my darling here, he's always been a crybaby," a serious look overcomes her eyes, "What do you do for a living, Ryuunosuke-san?"

"I'm a personal trainer ma'am,"

"So you work in the athletics division, I believe?" she asks, handing her husband his glass.

"Depends on the client, ma'am,"

"And you live alone?"

He nods curtly, "Yes ma'am, I moved out after graduating high school,"

"You're a fresh graduate. And younger than Kiyoko, are you sure you can take on the responsibility?" she questions seriously as the grandmother nods in agreement to the question. Ryuu nods, taking a deep breath. It was one of his insecurities when it came to taking care of Kiyoko, how unreliable he was towards her, and even now.

"I am by no means a perfect man, Shimizu Okaa-san, but I can assure you that Kiyoko-san would be safe in my care,"

She hums and turns to her daughter, "Be honest with me, Kiyoko-chan. What do you like about this man, to begin with?"

Ryuu gets impacted as he almost clutches his chest in hurt, but Kiyoko elegantly picks up the teacup and faces her mother, "Ryu is by no means the most graceful guy in the world,"

And there was another spear through Ryu's heart. "He's clumsy, and a bit pushy and sometimes he could be a bit unreliable to do things he isn't used to," she takes a calm sip of her drink, "And he's a major idiot," 

Ryu could swear he flatlined three times just hearing those things. "But that's what I like about him," she smiles at her mother, "He isn't a pushover, and he tries hard when acknowledging and changing his mistakes. I'm happy he doesn't hesitate to rely on me at times, and I'm comforted by the fact that he doesn't second-guess the professing of his love,"

Ryuunosuke softly smiles at her, receiving a gentle and loving smile back. Pleased and nodding at her mother,  Amini and Kiyoshi bow to Tanaka, "We'll be leaving our daughter in your care,"

"Eh?" he looks towards Kiyoko who takes his hands and looks at him with a cheeky look. "We hope you won't betray our trust in you, Ryuunosuke-kun," the grandmother smiles before handing him a plate of shortcake as Ryu's smile breaks out.

"Yes! I'll absolutely make sure of that!"

The three women were in the kitchen as Ryuunosuke sits stiffly with Kiyoshi, sweating bullets while unsure of what to do with the old man. "Ryuu-kun," he calls out as Ryuu jolts up and whips his head towards him, "Yes?!"

Standing up and leaning over towards a small bookshelf by the corner of the living room, he pulls out what looked like a photo album. "Care to join me?" 

His eyes light up with joy. "Absolutely sir!" he stands up and takes the seat beside Kiyoko's father as he opens the photo album and hands it down to Tanaka's lap. It was a baby Kiyoko, in her mother's arms. without the label, he wouldn't have guessed but the mole did give it away, "So she had the mole ever since she was a baby," Ryuu gushes as Kiyoshi chuckles.

"She was a cute baby," he points towards her on her stomach with her head up and looking back at the camera, "She was so fragile I was so scared to hold her, my wife kept calling me a wimp," he laughs sheepishly before pointing at a picture where his younger self was holding baby Kiyoko in his arms, crying.

'So when she told me he was a crybaby, she wasn't exaggerating' Tanaka internally thinks before his eyes get caught by the pretty yet still slightly bald sleeping Kiyoko by the corner on the page, '5 mos' written at the bottom.

"Oh my goodness," he looks closer as a fluffy feeling settles in his chest, "She's so adorable,"

"Right?" Kiyoshi nods before Tanaka flips the page, seeing both Kiyoshi and Aimi in their wedding garbs as the father blushes, "A-Ah, we had extra pictures and we didn't know where to put it so we took a page from Kiyoko's album.

"You guys look so young here,"

"That was five years before Kiyoko was born," he reminisces and smiles, "Actually, Ryuu-kun, my wife is 3 years older than I am,"

 "Eh?! Really?" Ryuu looks at him surprised, "Wow...maybe the younger guys type runs in the family,"

Bursting in boisterous laughter, Kiyoshi shakes his head clearly humored by his future son-in-law, "Right? When she called, Aimi and I were shocked that we didn't feel surprised by hearing she's older than you,"

"J-Just by a year," he scratches the back of his head, bashful. 

"But Kiyoko is capable enough, I'm sure your wedded life will go just fine,"

"I think so too, Kiyoshi-san,"

patting him on the shoulder with a wide smile, "You can call me Father, Ryuu-kun,"

Feeling the blood rush up his cheeks as he covers up the goofy smile on his face, "Then you can call me just Ryu, f-father," he shyly uses as Kiyoshi nods with a very happy and pleased expression on his face, "Welcome to the family, Ryuu,"

THIS WASN'T BETA READ BUT IT'S FINALLY DONEEEE, I'm wrapping up this valentine's day with a sappy family fic, and I would like to humble myself for lacking a bit in this story. I hope you guys still enjoyed it nonetheless! 

I'm looking forward to writing more KiyoTana in the future this was very fun to write!
