Maya was in awe of Gwen Stacy's beauty.

The way her blonde hair complimented her stunning blue eyes and her pearly white smile as she stood in front of the group of interns. Though she was more fascinated by the beauty of her mind. Maya never had too much to do with the blonde, though she had a lot of respect for her. 

Gwen was easily top student at Midtown, with Maya following close behind in that number two spot. With that though, there was a tang of jealousy. Gwen had beaten out Maya for head intern and it had stung to yet again fall just below of the best. She couldn't help but feel disheartened that no matter how many extra hours of studying she put in, it was just never enough. It seemed to come so naturally to Gwen, everything seemed to come naturally to her and Maya couldn't help but resent that.

"Welcome to Oscorp" Gwen spoke up, instantly putting a stop to the quiet conversations happening within the small crowd.

"My name is Gwen Stacy. I am head intern to Dr Connors and I will be with you for the duration for your visit. Where I go, you go. That's the basic rule. If you remember that all will be fine. If you forget that-"

Gwen was cut off by the commotion that was coming from the lobby downstairs. Maya turned her head to find the source of the noise and her eyes caught a glimpse of a man being dragged out by security.

"Look, listen. Tell them Rodrigo Guevara is down here. Please just tell them Rodrigo Guevara is down here. My name is Rodrigo!"

"I guess you already know what happens when you forget"

"Shall we?" Gwen raised an eyebrow and turned on her heels down the hallway.

They had made it to the lab Dr Connors was working in. Maya had zoned out the Dr's voice and was taking in her surroundings, wide eyed and a look of amazement on her face.

A familiar voice that came from behind Maya startled her out of her thoughts.

"Cross-species genetics?"

Maya turned around, completely mortified when her eyes met with his.

Peter Parker.

She knew he wasn't supposed to be with this group and by the visible gulp Peter took when she saw him, he knew that she knew this.

"And you are?" A curious Dr Connors asked.

"He's one of Midtown's bestest and brightest" Gwen chimed in, clearly catching on that Peter was in fact, not apart of the intern program. Peter sighed, silently thanking Gwen for covering his ass.

"He's third in his class"

Peter narrowed his eyes at her words. "Third? You sure about that?"

"I'm pretty sure" Whispered Maya, her words laced with confidence. Peter scoffed, though Maya never let her eyes wonder to the boy who was standing slightly behind her.

The sound of Dr Connors phone ringing snapped Peter out of his thoughts.

"I'm afraid duty calls" Dr Connors gave the group an apologetic smile. "I'll leave you in the more than capable hands of Miss Stacy. Nice meeting you all"

As the Dr exited the lab, Gwen cleared her throat and with the press of a button she opened up a hologram of Oscorp's 'Tree of Life'. "If you'd like to gather around"

The interns gathered around the hologram, eyes wide in amazement. Though Peter and Maya stood a little way away from the crowd.

"So, Rodrigo"  Maya started, keeping her eyes straight ahead, refusing to acknowledge the smirk that was plastered on Peter's face.

"I don't know what your plan is in here. Knowing you, I'm sure you're going to find yourself in some sort of trouble. However, you're sure as hell not about to drag me into this. I told you that I'd help you come up with some other way and this is not what I had in mind. You're on your own with this one, pal."

Peter stifled a laugh, though Maya stayed expressionless.

"You've got some explaining to do tomorrow, Mr Guevara" Maya walked over to the rest of the interns, still not sparing Peter a single glance. She was not about to get caught up in whatever chaos Peter was about to unfold.

It wasn't long until she felt Peter's presence disappear. She quickly glanced around the room and was right in her suspicion. She rolled her eyes as Gwen came and stood next to her.

"What's Peter doing here?"

Maya lightly chucked "Beats me. Though, I promise you I didn't sneak him in here"
