She sighed, putting her phone back in her pocket, trying to bring her attention back to Ned and MJ. Peter brushed his hand against hers, causing her to look at him. "Everything okay," he asked sincerely. He was there for her throughout these past couple of weeks. From phone calls at 2 in the morning to the anxiety attacks in the middle of class, Peter made sure he was there by her side.
Cassie nodded. "Tony was just letting me know we're having Chinese food for dinner tonight."
"You need to take deep breaths okay? The more you worry about this attack the less you're gonna enjoy the time you have left."
"I know, it's just hard not to worry... you're coming over tonight right? The Chinese food is a part of that new team bonding thing Cap is making us all do - like we aren't all already like family." Ever since school started, Peter had moved back to live with his aunt. Sure, he still had a room, spending the occasional weekend at the tower but he wasn't a permanent resident anymore.
"Of course," he said, taking his hand in hers. "I'll always be there - except for tomorrow, I won't be in school but I'm always a phone call away!"
Cassie couldn't help but smile at her boyfriend. He always knew the right thing to say. She felt herself leaning forward to kiss him but before their lips could meet, they were brought back to reality.
"Oi, love birds!" They turned to look at Ned and MJ who had stopped arguing to stare at them. "Are guys gonna pick a side or go get a room?"
Peter chuckled leaning his head on Cassie's shoulder as she said, "Ned, as much as I would love to hear your rendition on One Day More, I think we should save it for the High School Musical Marathon."
Ned sulked back in his chair, taking a bite of the baby carrots packed in his lunch, presumably by his grandmother. "Fine.... you're saving the best for later I understand."
Cassie giggled too leaning into Peter as she handed him half of her sandwich. He always slept in after Spider-Man business and forgot to pack a lunch for himself. Good thing he had a caring girlfriend that wouldn't let him starve. Smiling he accepted the half sandwich and took a big bite. As she stared at her boyfriend, Cassie realized how right he was. If she kept worrying about the future, she wouldn't have time to experience everything happening now.
What would she do without Peter Parker?

With Peter gone the next day and not having the last period on Fridays, Cassie found herself sitting in the Sanctum Sanatorium, debating with Wong and Stephen over what to do for lunch.
"We could always get sandwiches?" Cassie suggested.
Stephen let out a sigh, walking back towards the front of the sanctum. "Fine. I'll run down and get them just give me your money."
Wong looked at Cassie confused before both of them walked to catch up with him on the stairs. "Money?" Wong asked confused.
"Seriously, you don't have any money?"
"Attachment to the material is detachment from the spiritual."
Cassie scoffed. "That's ridiculous."
"I'll tell that to the guys at the deli," Stephen said, making his way down the stairs. "Maybe they'll make your a metaphysical ham on rye."
"Oh wait," Wong called out. "I think I have 200."
"Dollars?"
"Euros?" Cassie asked.
Wong took out the money he had in his robes. "Rupees."
"Which is?" Stephen asked.
Cassie rolled her eyes, walking down the stairs past them. "Like a dollar fifty," she informed them. "I'll pay for yours, Wong what do you want?"
He shrugged his shoulders. "I could always go for a tuna melt."
Before Cassie could even reach for the door handle. A light blared from the roof, searing down and destroying the middle of the staircase. They all covered their heads in protection until the light faded before turning around and rushing to face whatever invaded their way.
As the Cloak of Levitation wrapped around Stephen's back and Wong summoned the Ruby Rings of Raggadorr, Cassie started to take in what was happening. She ran up what was left of the staircase, peering down into the hole. The green monster slowly faded away, leaving a scientist behind. Cassie watched as Bruce Banner caught his breath, his eyes bulging as he noticed them from above.
"Thanos is coming," Bruce gasped out. "He's coming."
Stephen and Wong turned to look towards Cassie who couldn't stop staring at Bruce. She raised her hands over the back of her head as her pace began to quicken, the realization of what happened becoming more real with every second that passes.
Cassie dropped her hands back to her sides. "Shit."
