There was a collective groan as people wanted to just enjoy the trip in peace. "Why?" Flash said, not looking up from his phone. "This is pointless."
"I-I think it's a great idea," Peter said from the back.
Cassie could see the blush on Liz's face when he spoke. "Thank you, Peter. Okay, people! Let's begin!"
They went through a couple of rounds, everyone soon turning their attention and focusing solely on the questions. Everyone was engaged and answered questions at a rapid speed that seemed to make the trip go by a lot quicker.
Cassie felt herself answering a lot of the questions, her hand reaching the bell before anyone else. As Liz asked another question, she reached her hand to the bell, only to be beaten by someone else.
"Strontium, Barbarium Vibranium!" Cassie looked before her to see Peter answering the question.
"Very good Peter. Glad to have you back," said Liz.
"Glad to be back." He turned his eyes from Liz and landed on Cassie next to her. He smiled at her, one that Cassie couldn't resist giving back. Then, his phone rang from his jacket pocket. He looked down at the caller ID and began to furrow his eyebrows. Cassie had a feeling she knew who it was from. He stood up from his seat. "Can I take this real quick?"
"Yeah fine."
She watched Peter walk to the back of the bus, sitting in a seat near Ned. Cassie nudged Liz on her shoulder, letting her know she too was gonna take a second. Liz nodded at her and she moved to the back of the bus.
"Yeah it's uh- just a school trip," Peter began. "You know, Happy, I gotta say... tracking me without my permission is a complete violation of my privacy." Peter looked towards Ned who was holding up the tracker they had. "That's different," he tried to say quietly but Happy heard over the phone.
Cassie plopped down in the seat next to Peter. "Trouble with the Mrs?" She asked him.
He looked up at her, relieved to see her face. "Nothing. Look it's just the Academic Decathlon. It's no big deal," he told Happy. "Cassie's with me, here."
Peter shoved the phone at her, using one hand to cover the microphone. "I don't wanna talk to Happy!" she whispered.
"Please?" he asked, putting on his most sympathetic face.
She sighed, not being able to resist. Cassie took the phone and put it to her ear. "Hey, Happy!"
"Kid, is this really a decathlon thing? Tell me the truth," said Happy.
"Yes, Happy, it is. We're only gonna be in DC for the weekend I told you yesterday remember?"
"Right, right... I thought the kid quit the team."
"Well he didn't," Cassie said, turning to look at Peter who was confused why he was being mentioned. "Listen I'll make sure nothing happens. You trust me right?"
"I don't know if trust is the word..."
"Nonsense, Happy, I know I'm your favorite person."
"Just be safe and stick to school activities? We don't need Spider-Man and Pythia being spotted in DC."
"Got it Happy I'll make sure we stop by and say hello to the President, give him the middle finger."
"Yeah, yeah, see you next week, kid."
Cassie hung up the phone and handed it back to Peter. "Everything's fine. He forgot about acadeca I told him about it yesterday."
"We are not sticking to just decathlon right?" Peter asked, just clarifying they were not gonna listen to Happy.
