My fingers gripped the hammer as I saw a customer continue to go off on one of the coworkers; a sigh left my lips as I set the hammer down. "You okay Lace?" Eric asked; I looked at him with a faint smile. "I don't know how you can tolerate people being rude to you," I said, tossing the empty box to the side. Eric chuckles, "It's called having patience and staying calm," He said. I rolled my eyes and shook my head at his silly remark; the sound of glass shattering sent shivers down my spine.
"Are you sure you're okay? You seem jumpy, and you've been spacing out lately." Eric asked, smashing the box with his feet. I nodded, fixing the hammers on the racks. "Just tired, that's all," I said, faking a yawn. Eric narrowed his eyes at my wrist, "Yeah, sure." He said. "So, how's your podcast going?" I asked, dropping the touchy subject. Eric sighed as he stretched his arms, "It's alright. I got Professor Bahng and Felix- I mean, Professor Lee on the show." Eric said with an awkward smile. I chuckled, "Professor Bahng? The Anatomy professor?" I asked, not wanting to sound interested in the Professor. I didn't want to bring up a topic that didn't seem appropriate for the professors.
"Yep, we talked about some important things," Eric said as he fixed the ranches. I looked at him, "I listen to your podcast Eric, and talking about ASMR isn't important," I said with a chuckle. Eric froze as he gave me a side eye, "You...you listen to my podcast?" He asked in disbelief; I nodded. He smiles and nudges my side, "Aww, bestie." Eric said. I giggled. "Those ranches don't need to be fixed," I said; Eric shrugged. "Gotta make our manager think I'm working," He whispered; I sighed and nodded. "Yeah," I said.
The bells chime, signaling a customer's entry. Eric left the aisle to attend to the register; I picked up the boxes and walked to the back of the store. Tossing them away in the trash bin and walking back inside, I stepped inside the same aisle. I dust my hands on the back of my jeans; I look up to see a familiar face.
"Professor Bahng? What a surprise," I said, earning a chuckle from him. I watched him glance at me as he ran a hand over his curls, "A hardware store is not what I imagined you working at," Professor Bang said with a smile.
I bit my lip, "You imagine about me? How sweet," I teased. Professor Bahng's pale cheeks were replaced with crimson; I smiled. He laughs lightly, "I guess so," He said, crossing his arms. "What brings you to a hardware store?" I asked, getting back to fixing the other tools and racks. Professor Bahng smiles as he clutches the red rope; I look away. "I got some new furniture, and I need tools to arrange them." He said, his voice sounding a bit low than usual. I glanced at him, "Well, I'm sure you know what you'll need," I said, grabbing a leather cord that was misplaced in the wrong rack.
"Tell me...is leather preferably from this rope?" Professor Bahng asked as he compared the red rope and cords; I gulped and let a chuckle leave me. I look at him, "Well...it depends on what you use it on. Leather can be harsh on soft and tender furniture, and so is rope. As I said, it depends on what...you'll use it on," I said, feeling his gaze burning me away. I shivered at the sudden gush of wind; Professor Bahng hummed. I looked at him as he handed me the leather cord, "Well then red rope it is," He said with a smile. I forced a smile as he left the aisle, a sigh of relief escaped my lips. What the fuck just happened? Did that really happen?
I look to see Eric talking with Professor Bahng; I return the cord to its place. I continued with my shift waiting for Professor Bang to leave the store.
After an hour, he finally left. Eric sighed, "Well, looks like Professor Bahng is getting down to business," He said, leaning on the counter. I shook my head at Eric's dirty remark, "What? I indeed saw what happened in the aisle Lacey," Eric said with a smirk. I blushed and smacked his feet lightly with the broom, "Leather or rope? Damn, I did not know he was into that stuff," Eric said, laughing. I didn't think someone like him was into that.

FanfictionRomance was dead in her family, but Lacey (Elizabeth) Gutierrez craved it. She craved the romance written in the pages of a hardcover spinal; she wanted the roses, the chocolates, the letters, and the dates. But what she craved the most was the affe...
