Ru didn't want to know. She didn't care.
Running forward, she got ready to kick some butt. There were only two of them, and Aunt Ellie was in heels. The fight would be easy.
Until the screaming started.
Ru stopped in her tracks and looked back.
Connor, Ollie, Darci, and Zane all writhed in pain, slowly falling to the floor. Then, it ended as quickly as it started.
"Stop all this nonsense." Jase said, trying to sound calm, but clearly not managing. "I have the high ground."
"Or do you." Dr. Charles stepped into view, having gone to the bathroom earlier. "Nice to see you, Jase. But remember, I've always been taller than you."
Jase glared and Ru wondered how the two knew each other. "Nice to see you again, brother."
The whole room seemed to inhale sharply. Zane looked hurt. "Mom, how could you?"
Aunt Ellie cocked an eyebrow. "I'm not your mom. It's just an act. Kinda like when you kissed Felix."
Ru, who was about to charge again, stopped. They kissed?
An uncomfortable silence washed over them all. No-one knew what would happen next.
Jase cleared his throat. "You can either come the easy way or the hard way, it's your choice."
