~One Week Later~

It was Sunday night, the night before Betty and Jughead's first day of Junior year, but Betty didn't want to go. Not because she didn't like school, but because she didn't want to leave Emma. She had just gotten the little girl to sleep when she was laying on the couch with Jughead. That's when Fp walked over to them.

Fp- Are you two ready for school tomorrow?

Jughead- Sure. (chuckles)

Fp- Betty?

She shrugged and looked down at her lap.

Fp- What's wrong sweetie?

She didn't reply but then Jughead lifted her chin up with his finger so she would look at him.

Jughead- What's wrong babe?

Betty- I don't want to leave Emma.

Fp- Honey, she'll be okay.

Betty- I know, but I still don't want to leave her.

Fp- She'll be at daycare, and she'll get to meet a bunch of kids her age. This is good for both of you.

Betty- (sighs) I still don't want to leave her.

Emma- You're leaving me? (softly)

They all turned their heads and saw the little girl standing on the bottom stair, then she began to cry. Betty ran to her and picked her up into her arms before rocking her slowly.

Betty- Shh, baby girl, don't cry.

Emma- P-Please don't leave me. (sobs)

Betty- I don't want to, believe me, but I have to go to school.

Emma- N-No! (sobs)

Emma held her tighter while she continued to cry, then Betty turned to Fp not knowing what to do.

Fp- Emma, it's going to be okay, it won't be long.

Emma- NO, MOMMY STAYS WITH ME! (sobs)

Betty- Shh, I'll stay with you, I'll stay with you.

The little girl nodded but continued to cry while holding onto her tightly. But soon she fell asleep in her arms. Then she sighed as she sat back down on the couch, Emma still in her arms.

Fp- Betty, you know you have to go to school.

Betty- I know, I know, I just can't listen to her cry.

Fp- Well, we have to figure something out.

Betty nodded and turned to Jughead who had a sympathetic smile on his face. She sighed and turned so she could lean against his chest, but she didn't take her eyes off her sleeping sister.

Jughead- Why don't we drop her off at daycare tomorrow so she has as much time with you as possible? I mean, it's on the way to school anyway.

Fp- I'm okay with that, Betty?

Betty- (nods) But can we walk?

Jughead- Yeah, it'll only be about a ten minute walk.

Betty nodded and placed her hand on Emma's cheek caressing it lightly. But soon they all went to sleep, needing to be well rested for the long days ahead of them.

--

The next morning Betty had set her alarms for 6:30 so she could take a quick shower before school, and it didn't take her long before she was all dressed and ready. Then she went to Emma and got her dressed.
