Kara hid her smile from the irritable teen, she couldn't help but find his leaps adorable, it reminded her of a time when he'd just started crawling.

They were training in the tall grassy landscape further away from the small town and cloaked by the darkness of night, of course, they could see perfectly.

Kon has always had trouble flying and whenever he'd try to take off he'd fall back on earth merely seconds later looking like one of those leaps the Hulk does in the movies.

"This is hopeless."

"It is." Kara laughed.

Kon glared at his mother with thinly veiled irritation and sadness, "Not helping, Mom. I just want to be able to fly like you and Uncle Kal."

Kara flew up and sat herself next to him in tree, looking up the starry sky.

"I know you do but you have to remember you're only part Kryptonian so it only makes sense if you don't have some of our abilities." Kara paused to make sure he's listening, "But you're also part speedster and that is probably why you can't defy gravity; because you're made to be on the ground. I don't know if you've noticed but you're really fast -faster than me- and sometimes I think I see a faint streak of lightening following you around."

"You really think so?" Kon asked with a smile, he doesn't have much to relate himself to his father so he'd take anything, even if it meant he can't fly.

"Oh, I'm sure of it, after all you're still your father's son." Kara nudged him playfully with her shoulder.

"Thank you, Mom." Kon rested his head on her shoulder, "At least you're honest about your old age; are you really that slow? I thought you were letting me win those races."

Kara hit him in offense, "Please, I could still win a race with my speed, you're not there yet."

"Wanna race to find out?"

"Around the world?"

"Prepare to lose old lady."

"Oh, you're on!"

What did you think of this chapter?

Honestly? I had no idea what I could write for a while and this came to me after New Year's.

I loved this chapter purely for the mother-son content, I love the bond I'm creating here because I don't see it alot in superflash stories, it sometimes feels like the kid's being there is to ensure the parent's get together, ya know?

Anyway, Barry should be appearing after a chapter or two 'cause I still need villians and I'm still deciding, original or canon?
