A/N Hey guys! If you're wondering why these chapters are so short, it's because we first have to meet all the characters before we can go on to the rest of the story. Thank you for reading! :)

A jolt suddenly wakes me up. "Rise and shine, sleepyhead," Rose says. I mumble something unintelligible. We just turned onto a very bumpy road. "Sure this is the way?" Mom asks. "Unless my GPS is lying, yes, I'm sure," Dad says as he keeps his eyes on the road. I pull out my phone. It reads "7:47 pm". We had been in the car for nine hours, give or take a couple minutes.

I think about texting my friends, but then again, they've probably forgotten about me already. I'm a forgettable face. Rose notices my solemn face and says, "Don't worry, I'm sure you'll make tons of new friends here." I give her a smile, but inside I'm crying. Why would Mom and Dad make us move? I know they had some bad experiences in our old city, but that doesn't mean they can rip me away from the place I've spent my whole life. It's no use arguing with them, though. We're already almost there. Cantiné, I think. Sounds pretty rustic. Hopefully I can get by in school without any trouble. Unlike last year...

Just then, I see a girl on a horse stopped on the side of the road. Honestly, who rides horses anymore? The weird thing is, she's looking at me. I can only make out her chocolate colored eyes before our car zooms off. Rose sees me looking intensely out the window. She looks too. "What are you staring at?" She asks. I shake my head. "It's nothing." "Weirdo," Rose says as she lightly punches my arm. Somehow, that girl seemed important.
