"You were human before," Nether whispers, looking down at the poor frightened, shanking child before him, "humans don't have rebirths, when you die you die..."
"Sometimes," Tango pipes up, "we have a respawn system that when we die we just show back up at a set point."
"My sister made that after seeing the phoenixes, aside from their rebirthing process," Nether pauses, "How long have you been like this?"
"A phoenix, hmm, year and a half. Respawning like this, six months," Tango shrugs.
"Does your mind, how to word this, does your brain function with this? Does it change?"
"Oh, I don't really know, it's weird," Tango mumbles, not really questioning why he feels comfortable enough to tell him all this, "I don't feel good when I'm like this... I know the stuff I should, but I don't have muscle memory," Tango winces at the memory of the time he was doing redstone when he was a kid and had burst into tears when he forgot how to do a T Flip Flop, "And my emotions are like a kids."
Nether nods, "I might be able to help you with muscle memory."
"Really?" Tango brightens, "That would be awesome."
Nether grins, "Can I see your hands?"
Tango holds his hands out, Nether takes his hands and his eyes glow.
"That should do it."
"Thanks," Tango grins.
Nodding Nether smiles back and pushes the bowl over, "Here, eat this, I'm sure you're starving by now."
Sniffing at the bowl Tango takes a bite, "What is it?"
"Pasta made from the weeping vines, and a kind of sauce made from mushrooms and the fruit from the crimson trees, hoglin meatballs."
"So, nether spaghetti," Tango shrugs, "It's good."
Nether laughs a bit, "I suppose that is a comparison to be made."
As Tango eats, Nether decides to reach out to Void and tell it all about the phoenix. As soon as he makes the connection he can feel Void quiver in excitement.
Hello brother
Void, I have found the cutest phoenix child. You must come to see him
Brother, I think I know who the child belongs to.
Really?
Blond hair... red eyes?
Yep
I am speaking with his Guardian.
Oh,
Give the child back brother,
Nether can feel voids laughter though the link. You think I would keep him.
Knowing you, of course, he has no way to get home, and you are so fond of having someone to take care of
Can you blame me? All my sentient subjects are gone. I have no one.
You could awaken your helpers
I could... but they have family's now
Slowly then. And you can invite their family's to stay with you as well.
Good points, I will ease them into it.
Brother, I will arrive in a few moments. With some of Tango's friends.
Of course, it will be good to see you. It's been centuries.

With a thump Impulse lands in Voids pavilion, "Ow.
"My apologies child," Void shakes its head, "I was unaware of your arrival."
"It's fine," Impulse shrugs, "I need help."
"What troubles you?"
"Tangos missing?" Impulse shudders, "he respawned and just went missing. His communicator stayed with his stuff when he died and X can't get it to return."
"I see..." Void trails off then suddenly smiles.
After a few minutes later Void snaps back to attention and looks at Impulse, "I found him."
"Really," Impulse grins, "how?"
"My brother found him," Void grins, "Take my hand child, I shall bring you to him."
Taking the old gods hand Impulse feels the magic that void carries. A moment later they are in the nether.
"IMPY," Tango shouts as he bolts into the arms of his friend.
"Hey buddy," Impulse murmurs, "You ok?"
Tango nods.
"Void..." Nether whispers, "I missed you."
"And I you, brother," Void seems to melt, it's colors becoming more vibrant.
"There's your end form," Nether grins at his older sibling. "I haven't seen this for ages."
"Brother please," Void laughs, "I haven't had a need for this form. My subjects are all but destroyed, they have no need for me, but the players in the void must be protected."
"True," Nether nods.
Tango looks up at Impulse, "Let's go home?"
"Yeah," Impulse looks up at the siblings deep in conversation, "We'll go home soon."
