"I should head home."

Joe walked her out, opening the door for her. She was about to leave but stopped. She leaned in and pressed her lips gently to his. When she broke the kiss, she stayed right in front of him.

"I'll see you tomorrow," she whispered. Joe pulled her in for another kiss. He broke it and leaned his forehead against hers.

"See you tomorrow."

A couple of days later, it was Y/N's night off. She was running a few errands when her phone started ringing. She smiled when Joe's name popped up on her phone.

"Hate to break it to you, boss," she teased as she answered her phone, "but it's my night off."

"Y/N."

The tone of his voice made Y/N's breath get caught in her throat. "Joe?" She stuttered. "Are you okay?"

"It's Danny," Joe stuttered.

"What's wrong?"

"When he woke up this morning, he was burning up. I've given him antibiotics but his fever is still pretty bad. I can't get it to go away. Y/N, I don't know what to do. I think he's having a hard time breathing."

"Alright," Y/N said calmly, "listen carefully. What I need you to do is go to the bathroom and turn the shower on as hot as it can go. Have Danny lie down on the tile. Make sure to give him a pillow. Once he's laying down, close the door and put a couple of towels at the bottom of the door to keep the steam from leaving the bathroom."

"What?" Joe stuttered.

"Joe," Y/N soothed, "just do what I said. Danny is going to be fine."

"But what do I. . . How do I know. . . You're on your way. Right?"

"Of course," she said softly. "I'm leaving the store right now."

"I'm sorry," Joe said before Y/N could hang up. "I didn't. . . I just panicked and the only thing I could think of to do was to call you."

"I understand," Y/N said with a small smile. "Besides, I love that you call me when you're worried about Danny."

She hung up and turned down the street that leads to Joe's neighborhood instead of heading home. Y/N pulled into the driveway and got out of her car. She used her spare key and let herself in. She quickly put her bag down on the table by the door and kicked off her shoes.

Y/N jogged up the stairs, finding which bathroom Joe had put Danny in. She found them in the bathroom connected to the master bedroom. She was able to find it by the sound of Joe's soft voice. He was singing Danny's favorite lullaby. She smiled, her heart falling for Joe Keery all over again.

"Joe?" She whispered, lightly knocking on the bathroom door. "Danny? Boys, it's me."

"Y/N?" Came Danny's weak voice. Her heart sank when Danny started coughing.

"Just breathe, bud," Joe whispered. "Y/N's here."

Y/N held her breath as Joe moved the towels and unlocked the door. He grabbed her hand and pulled her in. She squeezed his hand when she saw how scared Joe was. She walked in and knelt down in front of Danny and gently moved some hair out of his face.

"Hi, Y/N," he said weakly.

"Hey, kiddo," she chuckled.

"I'm sorry you had to come on your night off," Danny sighed.

"It's okay," she shushed him. "Just breathe for me, okay?"

Danny closed his eyes and within a few breaths, he fell asleep. Y/N watched him for a few more minutes to make sure he was really asleep on the bathroom floor. She glanced over her shoulder at Joe watching the two of them.
