Part 8

By the time Louis turns up to work in the morning, everyone knows he and the boys have broken up. He assumes Scott and Harry couldn't wait to tell everyone they are rid of him finally. Harry and Scott though, haven't said a word the team only suspected the breakup because of the complete and utter awful mood Harry and Scott turned up to work in. Everyone knows to steer clear of them both.

Scott and Harry are of course known to be leaders, arseholes to outsiders, they are both full of authority and confident, the squad never see them vulnerable or acting anything other than in control while they are at work. It's usually something to do with Louis if they are ever in a bad mood. It is extremely clear that the boys are upset and taking their emotions out on the team, they've never seen Harry and Scott act like this. The team knows Louis means a lot to Scott snd Harry but seeing how they are both acting, they realise just how much they actually love Louis and it surprises them all. 

"Are you okay Lou?" Noah asks as they get in the car to head to another scene. Louis has been a little quiet and Noah can tell he's emotionally drained and upset. Of course Louis told Noah what really went on and Noah is so proud of Louis for realising his worth.

"I'm fine Noah, it's fine, I've prepared myself for the fact I'll be stuck on homicide for the rest of my career" Louis jokes, trying to lighten the mood

Noah smiles

"Not if I have anything to do with it" Noah says putting is arm around Louis in comfort.

Louis manages a half smile, he's prepared for Harry and Scott to punish him further, but hopes they will just leave him alone. Louis knows he's had a lot of special treatment because of who Scott snd Harry are, but he'd like to think he made it where he is because he's good at his job. He wonders if maybe he should transfer to another part of the country so he's not in their firing line.

It's not until lunch time that Louis and Noah have to head to headquarters to deliver some paperwork that Louis tenses up.

"I'll just run it in Lou" Noah offers as they sit in the car outside of headquarters, contemplating their move.

Louis doesn't want to appear a coward but he thinks it might be best, he's just not ready to face Harry and Scott right now.

"Are you sure?" Louis asks vulnerably

"Of course Lou, I won't be long okay" Noah reassures

Louis nods his head in thanks as Noah leaves Louis in the car and heads inside. When Harry and Scott see Noah walking in without Louis they can't help the disappointment they feel.

Noah hands in the paperwork, he and Edward have a quick catch up and kiss hello before he goes to leave.

"Noah" Harry says full of authority

Noah sighs, he should have known. They boys watch on with sympathy as Noah follows Harry and Scott to their office, knowing Noah will be the next victim of their wrath.

They close the door and Noah stands in front of their desks looking at them both.

"Is Louis okay?" Scott asks more gently than Noah ever expected

"Define okay" Noah's says sighing

"Is he eating, is he at work, did he tell you where he was staying, Is he safe?" Harry rambles off all at once

Noah is secretly glad Harry and Scott are so concerned about Louis, but he's not going to give too much away, he knows Louis wouldn't appreciate that.

"Well no he's not eating much, he is at work but understandably didn't want to come inside, he's staying at a shitty hotel because he can't afford much else and before you ask no, I won't tell you where, you know I can't betray him like that,  I'm sorry" Noah says

The boys sigh,

"We didn't mean for this to happen Noah, we have been absolute dicks and didn't realise we were pushing him away, that we were treating him so badly" Scott says

"That's kind of worse guys, Louis is the most wonderful, kind, tough as nails person and I admire him so much. He never once said a bad word about either of you and god knows how many times I've vented about Edward being an arsehole and we've only been together a year" Noah says

"We love him Noah, we never, ever stopped and we never will stop. We realise how fucking stupid we are and what shit partners we've been. Please can you tell him that at least" Harry says

"See how vulnerable you're being right now, to me? That's all Louis has ever wanted from you both, that's all he's ever needed from you, telling him you love him shouldn't be so hard. You need to tell this to him, give him a little space and then try and maybe, just maybe, he might listen" Noah says

The boys watch Noah leave the office and know everything he said is true, they just hope they can at least get Louis to listen to them
