Part 6

Louis and Noah don't have time to stop all day, they are pushed to their limit with cases and the backlog they have to also deal with.

"DNA  has come back for Molly" Noah says as he gets off the phone, they are driving back from interviewing some witnesses. 

"Is there a match?" Louis asks as he pulls back up at the bureau

"Troy Austin" Noah sighs

"Fuck" Louis says

He parks and looks at Noah, Troy is one of Stingers men, well known to police

"Why would Stinger use one of his known men to do this, and why now? Unless he wanted us to know" Louis asks

Noah sighs lost in thought.

"Lou, do you find it strange at all that we've been shunted to homicide and are put onto this case after we brought Stanley's men down?" Noah asks

"A little yeah, now that we know it was Stinger behind Molly's murder, but are you saying Harry and Scott knew and did it on purpose?" Louis asks

Noah sighs

"No, I trust Harry and Scott and all the boys in the team, I just find it weird is all" Noah says

"Well Scott and Harry have been acting weird, maybe they did. I don't know anymore Noah" Louis sighs fed up

He's been in pain all day and shouldn't be driving but he doesn't want to show weakness but he's becoming agitated and so tired.

"Has something happened?" Noah asks

Noah and Louis have been really close since they became partners, Noah and Edward are in a relationship and have been for the past year, they've just moved in together and Louis and Noah talk about their relationships all the time, Noah is the only one Louis can talk to about things, but Louis is reluctant to talk about what he's feeling right now. He supposes he should talk to someone though.

"No not really, well, Scott and Harry were pissed obviously that I went in without a vest on and they've been I don't know....asking a lot of questions, being nice but angry, it's weird. I honestly feel like I need some space from them" Louis sighs, saying it out loud hurts

"You mean like breaking up with them?" Noah asks surprised

"I don't know, maybe, I'm not good enough for them Noah, they have each other, I'm just the third wheel and a burden, they have such high expectations that they live up to and nothing I do ever lives up to them and I'm sick of pretending I'm okay about it. They can't even tell me great job or that they are proud of me, that I've done something right. I bet Edward has told you 1000 times how proud he is of you after a raid" Louis says as he looks towards Noah

"Of course he does because that's what we've always been like, Edward isn't scared of showing affection and neither am I, we both want and need that. Scott and Harry have never been like that and you've always been okay with it, what's changed" Noah asks kindly

Louis sighs

"I've never been okay with it Noah, I've just never wanted to lose them because I love them. I'm just at the point where it's not enough now, I need it and I don't want to have to ask them for it" Louis says as he looks down at his hands

"Lou, you deserve to have what you need in a relationship, this entire 5 years has been about you being what they need and want but what about you? Do they even realise any of this? You need to tell them Louis, at least give them a chance to be what you need" Noah says

"That's the thing Noah, I'm not sure I even want them to be anymore" Louis says

Noah doesn't get a chance to answer before the radio is going off and they are back on the road again, the more Louis thinks about it the more Noah's words ring in his head. Should he give them the chance, did they put him on this case on purpose. He doesn't know anything anymore and he feels like he's slipping.

Back at headquarters Harry and Scott are having a slow day, the squad is having a cook up which they do sometimes when it's slow. They are all sitting around the break room waiting for the food to finish, they always have the newer recruits cook it all up.

"H, we should tell Louis and Noah to come by, that way we can make sure Louis eats something" Scott says

"Good idea, I'll call them" Harry says

Harry pulls his phone out of his pocket to call, Louis doesn't pick up and neither does Noah

"Still no answer?" Scott asks after Harry has tried three times

"No, they must be busy" Harry sighs, Louis is working way to hard

"What's up? Can't get a hold of Lou?" Drew asks as he sees how concerned Harry and Scott are

The squad stop and listen in, it's new for Harry and Scott to act concerned

"No, was going to ask them to stop by for some food" Harry says

"Well Liam has them working non stop, they've got a backlog over there apparently" Drew says

"Yeah, Louis and Noah are apparently on call for the next month" Scott says 

"Yeah, I'm pretty pissed if I'm honest, it's not fair" Edward says, when he found out Noah was on call 24/7 because of staff shortages he was not happy and he too tried to call and have it changed

"No, it's not, but we don't know why it's happening, We think it may be on purpose" Scott says

"Wait, Liam's put them on call on purpose? What would the purpose be?" Edward asks

"That's what we are trying to find out" Harry says

"Might be the case they have. Stanley Green's wife was killed yesterday and Louis and Noah are leading the case" Drew says

"What?"

"Are you sure?"

"How do you know this?" The boys all ask

"I have eyes and ears everywhere boys, that's why I'm on the team" Drew smirks with a wink.

"Why wouldn't Louis tell us that, they shouldn't be on that case" Scott says

"That's what I said to Noah" Edward says

"Maybe he thinks you'll take him off it if he tells you" Drew shrugs

"Well we should" Harry says full of authority

"Do they have a suspect?" Scott asks

"Yeah, Stingers men" Drew says

"Fuck, Louis needs to be off this case, if anyone finds out he was undercover at the raid" Harry trails off

"See, somethings not right, Liam needs to answer some questions that's for sure" Edward says

Harry's phone then rings and he sees it's Louis calling him back, he answers the phone on speaker

"Hey Lou" Harry says and the boys all sing song hellos

"Hey, what's wrong? You called three times" Louis says back

"Yeah, we just wanted to see if you and Noah can stop by for lunch, we are having a cook up" Scott says

"Come on kids, you're part of the team we miss you" Drew says

"We aren't anymore, we got shunted to homicide" Noah says laughing teasingly into the phone, the boys jeer at Scott and Harry and Noah laughs

"Can you guys make it?" Scott asks taking the teasing on his chin

"Sorry, we're flat out, we are halfway to Birmingham" Louis says

"What the fuck are you doing in Birmingham" Harry asks

"Following leads, have a good cook up, see you tonight... if we're not called out" Louis says and he hangs up

The boys sigh

"He still pissed at you?" Drew asks knowing Louis was definitely not himself on that call

"Apparently" Scott says.

The boys go back to talking and when the food comes out they enjoy a good meal. Harry and Scott can't get Louis and the case off their minds though. Something is definitely not right and they need to find out all that Louis knows about the homicide.
