Ezeabata In A Golden Marriage

CHAPTER 18

Heaven adjusts her seat in a bit to answer pastor's question when her eyes caught a familiar face, Someone who she thought where she was at the time, was the last place, life will choose for her to cross path with this fellow again. 

"Hey Heaven what are you doing here? Should i say good to see you?" Says Obinnaya (translated literally to be his father's heart but means one dear to his father's heart)

He tries hugging Heaven who simply stretched her arm for a hand shake. Smiling she says

"Hello Obi (abbreviated from Obinnaya) i see you're still in the habit of stalking me yeah?" Ridicules Heaven

"Get a grip of yourself, that was then not now!"  says IFunanya, Obinnaya's wife, with this sense of jealousy, one that was noticed by pastor and Echeta as she quickly walks her way through to her husband's side, who stood by Heaven's side.

"Oh meet IFunanya, ( translated love in igbo language) my dear wife!" Shouts Obi with a show off attitude

"Oh i see. Pleased to meet your acquintance madame" greeted Heaven forcing a smile, pratically  ignoring IFunanya's rude answer to the joke she shared with Obi when she asked him a question. The former hardly answered.

"Who are you're friends?" Says Obi trying hard to maintain a conversation

"Pardon me, this here is my husband to be Echeta and pastor Chiebido our church pastor" introduces Heaven.

Echeta stands up and shakes Obi's hand and looking at IFunanya he simply noded and says 'madam', showing respect, while pastor still seated, says 'hello'.

IFunanya feeling more relaxed and not intimidated anymore, greets back.

"Okay perhaps we would talk more later" emphasized Obi

"If time permits Obi. We are actually here on our marriage counseling." Adds Heaven

"Shouldn't that be in the church?" Obi queries

"Why in the church?" Counters pastor disgusted a bit by people's idea of thinking that anything done in church automatically takes the sides of perfection.

"No particular reason sir, just that it has always been that way." Replies Obi

"Well friend, times are changing and it's not like the counseling session is held in church because the couple lives there after marriage or do they?" Concludes pastor as they all share a laughter with that question

"No sir, not at all" says Obi he excuses himself and wife, they left.

"Who in God's name is that and what was that all about?" Lashes out Echeta

"Who else Echeta? that is Obi now!" Replies Heaven as she sits

"Wh...o?" Asks Echeta still irritated

"Have you forgotten i told you of a very stubborn suitor, i once had who thought he could manipulate and impose himself on me?"

" ye...s! Obi!" Remembers Echeta

" So that is he? No wonder the wife was being defensive. Who knows what he told her." Does she even know you singled her out for him to marry?" Asks angry Echeta

"Well you two should look over there and see what i see now" says pastor

The couple looks over, only to find out that Obinnaya and IFunanya are the parents of the boy bully who Heaven pointed out before, in the course of their counseling, as the kid made way to run into his parents arms calling out 'daddy' 'mummy'

"Why aren't i suprised?" Questions Heaven

"Inorder not to be distracted from what we are concentrating on our counseling today, i am going to ask that you go on to attend to the question you were about to answer before Obi saw you.
