"Dude-"

"She has such soft skin."

Chinedu shook his head and turned to the girl in front of him. To be honest, he was extremely uncomfortable with what Tim had asked him to do, but what other choice did he have? Besides, if it were him in this messed up love from afar situation, Bayo would help him without hesitation. "Flora, are you free this weekend?"

Flora smiled brightly and nodded happily. "Yes!" Realizing how desperate and overexcited she sounded, she cleared her throat and placed her hands into her pockets. She nodded once. "Yes, I am. Why?"

"Um..." Seeing the expectatant look in her light brown eyes made him feel guilty for tricking her like this. "I..."

Tim eyed Chinedu's guilty expression and placed a hand on his shoulder, putting on a sly smile. "Never mind my friend here. He's way too shy to ask. He wants to hang out this weekend. You game?"

"Sure."

"Bring your friend too."

Flora's eyebrows lifted in shock at the boy to her right. Bayo Bukola Afolabi, only son to Micheal Fayomi Afolabi, a medical tech mogul and owner of a multi billion company and other subsidiaries related to health. The guy was a big shot in the school. Everyone always wanted to be in his circle of friends to get one benefit or the other from him, but these two, Rotimi Desmond Akinkumi and Chinedu  Ahamefule were the only ones he chose to move with. Apparently, they were childhood friends and the only ones that didn't move with him because of his money or status. From what she had heard, he never had any interest in anyone outside these two much less a girl. Yet, here he was asking after her friend whom he had just bumped into. Damn, what luck. "Patricia?"

Bayo nodded. "Yes."

"Oh."

"Can you give me her contact?"

"Uh...no I can't. It's not mine to give."
Bayo hummed. Nice. She was a good friend.

"I can give her your contact though." Flora gave him her phone and watched in shock as he really typed in his number. "Thank you," she collected her phone and gave it to Chinedu. "Can I get your contact?"

Chinedu blinked and pointed at himself. "Me?"

"Yes."

"Oh."

Tim laughed and quickly collected the girl's phone and typed in his and Chinedu's numbers. "Don't mind him. He ate beans in the morning so he's a bit slow this afternoon."

Chinedu immediately elbowed Tim out of reflex.

"Jesus." Tim lifted his arm from Chinedu's shoulder. "Apparently, he's never slow enough to hit me." When be saw the boy was about to hit him again he ran behind Flora. "Abeg, help me beg this boy. I never chop since morning."

"Come here. Remove your hand from her shoulder." Chinedu dragged Tim away from Flora. "You dey hide behind girl, you nor dey shame."

"Before unkor? They nor dey shy drink poison o."

"So I be poison now abi?"

"No na. Na you be the snake. The producer of venom."

"Do you want to die this early afternoon?"

"Sha don't bite me. I have a mum and two sisters. My dad doesn't even know if I'm alive."

Chinedu playfully snapped his teeth at Tim.

"Jesus. Blood sucking demon. I rebuke you in Jesus name." Tim ran behind Bayo when Chinedu was about to grab him. "Bayo o."

Bayo didn't even mind him. "Sorry for taking your time. Flora right?"

Flora nodded. "Yes. No problem."

"We'll see this weekend then?"

She nodded and waved at them as she walked away.

They all waved and as Bayo expected, the two idiots continued their stupid play all through lunch. At this point, he was close to disowning them.
Bayo immediately flopped into his bed when he got home. To say today was stressful was an understatement. Add the hospital work to the headache of his two stupid friends, he was surprised he hadn't fallen sick yet. Just as he was on the verge of dosing off, his phone rang loudly. Who could be calling him at 12:34pm? The thought that it might be Patricia quickly wiped out of his mind when he saw his mum's contact. "Hello, mummy."

"Abayomi-"

Jesus. Full name o.

"-how are you?"

"I'm fine thank you ma."

"How is school? Hope they are not over stressing you there o?"

"No ma." Bayo frowned when he noticed a suppressed emotion in his mum's voice. "Mummy, hope nothing o?"

"Bayo..."

In this few moments of silence, his mind ran through every possible scenario. Did someone in the family die? Was something wrong with the company? Did anybody get injured? What he heard was far from what he thought.

"...your father is in the hospital."

A/N:

Pidgin terms

Abeg - please

Nor - it can mean several things based on usage. For example, "you nor dey shame?" means "you are not ashamed?" Or "Nor dey lie" means "Don't lie". Generally, it has "not" in it's English interpretation.

Na - it could mean "it's" and sometimes it could just be an added word in a sentence that doesn't really have a meaning. For example, "Na you" means "it's you". "Na you be the snake" means "you are the snake". The word "na" in this statement could be removed and the sentence would still make sense.

Sha - just

Abi - right

Wetin - what

Pidgin English is a language frequently spoken in Nigeria. Since the setting is in Nigeria, Pidgin English is inevitable in the characters' conversations. I'll try my possible best to explain the terms that may seem strange.
